In this Position...

Under minimal supervision perform a variety of chemical metallurgical and physical tests and analysis of plant processes products and purchased materials to ensure conformance to established standards and/or deviations. Successful candidate for this role will be a member of the Salary Bargaining Unit-Local 240.



Responsibilities

What youll do...

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Testing includes items such as crankshaft heat treat pattern evaluation collection and analysis of metal working fluids from machining areas part cleanliness testing PTWA adhesion testing RTV adhesion testing etc.

  • Evaluate test results; investigate problems and promptly report conclusions and recommendations to applicable plant personnel.

  • Provide advice and assistance of a chemical or metallurgical nature to plant and supplier personnel relative to processes materials and manufacturing equipment including investigation of in-plant and warranty material failures.

  • Prepare and maintain records and distribute special or routine reports outlining analytical results for use of plant and division staff.

  • Determine laboratory testing methods established test frequencies and assist as required the development of new testing methods testing cycles etc.

  • Write and maintain laboratory testing procedures verify calibrate and maintain lab equipment obtain quotes purchase supplies write procedures and maintain documentation and records according to established standards.

  • Job requires performance of physical work involving lifting of parts / fixtures securing of bolts handles knobs etc. bending / reaching to facilitate equipment set-up as well as handling of delicate work involving small particles filters and microscopic specimens.

  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as required.

  • Job location can vary anywhere across Windsor site (Essex Engine Windsor Engine / Annex) from day to day as required.



Qualifications

Youll have...

Education:University Undergraduate Degree College Diploma or Higher Education in Chemistry Metallurgy Biology or Engineering..

Experience:

  • Prior laboratory or technical experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Outlook and Excel.

The expected monthly pay range for this position is $8840.00 - $9755.00.

Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
