About the role:
Reporting to the Coordinator Environment Compliance the Environmental Technicianis responsible forassessing and supporting ongoing environmental management and compliance associated withEVRs Cardinal River mine(CRM). This field-based role will focus on compliance sampling (water soil air) data management regulatory reporting data requests and data review/entry. This position follows a 9 on 5 off day shift schedule.
To be successful we are looking for someone who enjoys organizing field tasks a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can collaborate with internal operations and project teamsand alsoliaise with the publicclientsand government agencies. The successful individual would be a self-starter whoremainspositive and motivated in inclement weather at outdoor remote locations. This person would also have strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a proven capacity in practical problem solving.
In this position you will be working at one of Canadas most unique mine sites in active closure. This position is critical to the execution of regulatory approvals and licenses including closure and reclamation plans. As well an exciting opportunity to work with multiple consultants on CRMs environmental projects.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies

  • Lead CRMs compliance requirements for water and soil sampling and air quality and flow monitoring

  • Implement and provide technical direction for multiple broad based sampling and monitoring programs

  • Conduct environmental inspections and efficiency checks around water and wildlife management to support process and regulatory compliance

  • Contribute to contractor management responsibility to ensure work is being conducted safely andin accordance withthe project scope

  • Understand applicable approvals licenses and associated requirements to support ongoing compliance

  • Lead all aspects of routine maintenance repair and calibration of monitoring and sample collection equipment and instrumentation

  • Develop and implement effective processes to implement and integrate projects with operations

  • Develop and review Environmental Protection Work Plans

  • Analyze environmental field and analytical data including conducting data entry and QA/QC to draft technical reports and communications.

  • Educate on environmental matters andfacilitatecompliance assurance with departments on site

  • Provide survey support for water management collect in field elevations and complete survey staking

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Environmental Studies Earth Sciences (Biology Geography Geology Forestry Agriculture) or related Natural Resource field

  • Minimum two years of experience in the field of environmental compliance or monitoring in an industrial environment

  • Experience in water treatment would be an asset

  • Experience with drone use would be an asset

  • Experience in environmental project management

  • Experience with environmental data management software (GIS/EQuIS) and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel

  • The ability to safelyoperatedifferent equipment such as 4x4 1-ton trucks boats augers UTVsnowmobileswould be an asset

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent

$83000 - $103000 a year

The actual base salary offered isdeterminedbased on the successful candidates relevant experience skills and competencies and considers internal equity.
