As part of AECOMs continued growth and success in the municipal water market we are actively seeking a strong Civil Technologist to complete both on-site field inspection and CAD design for municipal drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role is based in AECOMs London office and requires regular travel to construction sites in southwestern Ontario.
The responsibilities of this new position include but are not limited to:
- Conduct reviews and inspections of installed construction works to monitor conformance with quality performance specifications and code requirements.
- Perform daily field inspections and maintain inspection records (notes photographs redline drawings material quantities etc.).
- Work with the project manager contract administrator and engineers for the successful implementation of the design.
- Liaison on site with the contractor client operations staff and approval authorities.
- Coordinate inspection needs and construction schedules including arranging for third-party inspections.
- Participate in testing start-up and commissioning activities.
- Develop maintain and update master deficiency list tracking correction of deficient work.
- Assist in contract administration of the project including arranging for shop drawing review and RFI response draft request for quotations and change orders reviewing payment certificates etc.
- Prepare engineering drawings and designs for drinking water and wastewater infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
- Coordinate drawings and design inputs with project managers engineers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure standards and deadlines are met.
- Support quality control processes and promptly flag engineering issues to the project manager.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- College diploma in a relevant program plus 4 years of related experience in municipal infrastructure inspection and design.
- Registered or ability to be registered as Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) Certified Technician (.) and/or Road Construction Junior Inspector (rcji).
- Valid Ontario drivers license and access to a vehicle to travel to construction sites.
- Experience working with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
Preferred Requirements
- 6 years of progressive experience in the design and inspection of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects including treatment plants pumping stations water distribution reservoirs etc.
- Competent surveying skills including use of total station level and GPS.
- Experience assisting in contract administration duties.
- Strong organizational interpersonal problem solving and analytical skills.
