The Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) seeks applications for a faculty member with expertise in Systems Immunology. CVD comprises a multi-disciplinary team of 32 full time faculty and 114 staff whose mission is to develop evaluate and implement vaccines and other interventions to reduce illness and mortality domestically and internationally. CVD works to prevent and treat enteric and respiratory diseases to reduce the threat of malaria and antimicrobial resistance and to identify understand and combat other tropic and emerging pathogens (SARS-CoV-2 Dengue Ebola Zika Anthrax Smallpox Mpox and others) in impoverished settings. Training is a critical component of the Centers work as is CVDs commitment to providing the foundation for the next generation of vaccinologists and global health scientists and researchers committed to CVDs mission.
Expected faculty rank for these positions will be Associate Professor or higher however final rank tenure status and salary will be commensurate with selected candidates qualifications and experience.
The expected salary range for Associate Professors is $189767 (min) and $296540 (max). The referenced salary range reflects base pay which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the departmental faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental variable compensation programs. The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicines good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidates geographic location skills work experience internal equity market conditions education/training and other factors as reasonably determined by the University.

The desired candidate will have doctoral training in Immunology Systems Biology Computational Biology Bioinformatics or a closely related field with demonstrated experience analyzing high-dimensional biological data. Clinical experience and board certification in infectious diseases is desired but not required. The candidate will be expected to develop an independent externally funded research program in an area related to vaccinology and infectious diseases or other topics relevant to the CVD research mission. Prior or current federal industry or foundation funding and demonstrated leadership in collaborative grants is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience mentoring graduate students and post-doctoral trainees and will be expected to participate in institutional and international capacity-building efforts.
