Asophisticated mid-sized Chicago law firm is seeking aCommercial Litigation Associate (35 years of experience)to join its dynamic litigation practice. The firm represents closely heldbusinessesand individuals in complexcommercialdisputes across state and federal courts.
This role is ideal for an associate who has developed strong foundational litigation skills and is ready to take on increased responsibilityin case strategy client interaction and courtroom advocacyunder the mentorship of the senior attorneys in the firm.
Position Overview
The Commercial Litigation Associate will manage substantive aspects of active matters collaborate directly with partners and serve as a key contributor in high-stakes disputes. Matters may include:
- Shareholder and partnership disputes
- Contract and business tort litigation
- Fiduciary duty claims
- Commercial real estate disputes
- Employment-related business litigation
- Financial services and lending disputes
Core Responsibilities
- Research draft and argue substantive motions
- Conduct and defend depositionsas appropriate with experience
- Manage written discovery strategy and responses
- Participate in court appearances and hearings
- Assist with trial preparation
- Engage directly with clients on case strategy and status updatesas appropriate with experience
