Job Summary

THE OPPORTUNITY

Ivy Tech Community College invites applications for the position of Senior Vice President of Student Affairs - a transformative opportunity for a bold visionary and collaborative leader of institutional quality evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement. This executive is the Colleges chief architect of the holistic student journey ensuring that every learner - across all campuses and modalities - experiences a supportive equitable and engaging environment from first contact through completion and beyond.

Under the direction of the President the Senior Vice President of Student Affairs is the Colleges primary steward for student life engagement wellbeing basic needs cocurricular learning and beyond.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Enrollment Management & Recruitment Strategy

  • Provide executive oversight for enrollment services including admissions recruitment student records and CRM based communication systems.

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive enrollment management plans that include recruitment outreach yield and conversion strategies.

  • Oversee predictive modeling enrollment forecasting and data analytics to support institutional decision-making.

  • Strengthen partnerships with K-12 systems community-based organizations employers and workforce partners to expand access and enrollment pipelines.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (Title IV FERPA etc.) and institutional policies.

  • Support the integration of new technologies (e.g. Workday Student) to enhance recruitment and enrollment operations.

Student Success Advising & Retention

  • Serve as the chief architect of a comprehensive access-centered student ecosystem integrating wellness academic support wraparound services and student engagement to ensure a seamless end-to-end student experience across all campuses and modalities.

  • Lead the design implementation and assessment of institution-wide student success and retention strategies.

  • Oversee academic advising models student engagement systems and retention initiatives targeted at high-risk student populations.

  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs to align advising transfer pathways and program completion strategies.

  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality services across all functional areas.

Student Affairs Campus Life & Student Development

  • Provide vision and leadership for student life student conduct co-curricular programming leadership development and campus climate initiatives.

  • Ensure that student voices are elevated and integrated into institutional decision-making.

  • Promote a safe inclusive and developmentally supportive environment across all campuses.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to student conduct and campus safety.

  • Foster collaboration among departments to support holistic student development through extracurricular and co-curricular activities.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the President and the College on student needs emerging trends and organizational priorities.

  • Builds a culture of evidence continuous improvement and institutional integrity.

  • Oversee budgets staffing long-term planning assessment and resource allocation across all functional areas.

  • Develops and supports a culture of engagement and extreme ownership creates effective programs to maintain staff skills and provides guidance to ensure staff career goals and objectives of staff are met.

  • Motivates staff to do their very best work.

The Senior Vice President of Student Affairs supervises the following positions:

  • Vice President for Recruitment & Enrollment Management

  • Vice President for Student Success & Retention Strategy

The Senior Vice President of Student Affairs provides indirect (dotted line) leadership to the campus Vice Chancellors of Student Affairs ensuring statewide alignment of student experiences.

KEY AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY

Student Experience Integration - Build a unified end-to-end student experience by strengthening collaboration between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs creating a seamless left and right hand partnership that supports learners academically personally and socially. Foster shared priorities coordinated interventions and a holistic ecosystem where every student feels known supported and empowered from entry to completion.

Seamless Learner Pathways Continue to emphasize the design of frictionless transitions across the student journey from dual credit to part-time or full-time enrollment through graduation. Champion cross-campus coordination data-informed decision-making and proactive guidance that reduce barriers accelerate momentum and strengthen long-term student success.

Service Access Navigation and Campus Culture - Expand student access to essential services by simplifying navigation increasing visibility and ensuring equitable support across all campuses. Balance the modernization of infrastructure with the preservation of vibrant campus culture creating environments where students can easily find what they need while still experiencing the community belonging and identity that define the College.

COMPENSATION

$275000 annually with opportunities for annual incentive bonuses tied to institutional and individual performance goals.

QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Earned doctorate in a related field (preferred) and substantial experience in postsecondary educational administration.

  • Seasoned leader with 10 years of progressively responsible leadership in student affairs student success campus wrap-around services and other related functional areas.

  • Demonstrated success leading complex multi-unit organizations and supervising senior-level staff.

  • Deep knowledge of student development theory enrollment strategy advising models and student success best practices.

  • Experience with statewide systems or large complex institutions.

  • Experience in a higher education institution is preferred.

  • Experience with compliance areas including Title IV FERPA and Clery.

  • Strong emotional intelligence adaptability and professional presence to navigate a dynamic and evolving institution.

  • A collaborative and transparent leadership style coupled with the courage to make principled decisions grounded in integrity and institutional values.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills with the ability to engage a wide range of constituencies effectively.

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to campuses across Indiana and out of state as needed for professional engagement.

IVY TECH LEADERSHIP

President Dr. Martin (Marty) Pollio

Dr. Martin (Marty) Pollio brings more than 25 years of transformational leadership in education to his role as the 10th president of Ivy Tech Community College. As president of Ivy Tech Dr. Pollio serves as the chief executive officer of Indianas largest public postsecondary institution which enrolled more than 200000 students in the 2024-25 academic year. Dr. Pollio champions the implementation of Higher Education at the Speed of Life the colleges strategy to deliver 50000 annual credential completions aligned with the needs of Indianas workforce. He leads a team of nearly 7000 faculty and staff across the colleges 19 campuses in Indiana and online and oversees major institutional initiatives that strengthen academic quality and improve student retention completion employment and transfer outcomes.

Dr. Pollio joined the college on July 1 2025 after a nationally recognized tenure as superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) one of the largest urban public school districts in the United his eight years of leadership JCPS increased its high school graduation rate and nearly doubled its postsecondary readiness rate while reducing achievement gaps.

Central to Dr. Pollios educational philosophy is a deep commitment to preparing students for success at work and in life. At JCPS he directed the Academies of Louisville a nationally recognized initiative that embedded career pathways into the high school experience. He previously led similar efforts while serving as principal of Jeffersontown and Doss high schools where he drove improvements in student achievement by bridging academic instruction with hands-on work-based learning opportunities.

Dr. Pollio holds a Bachelor of Arts in education from Indiana University a Master of Science in health education from Eastern Kentucky University and a Doctor of Education in educational leadership and management from the University of Louisville.
