Working 36.5hours per week

Birmingham City Council is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic manager preferably with experience of managing busy cemeteries and crematoria. Birmingham City Council is the largest burial authority in the UK with 11 cemeteries and 3 crematoria carrying out around 7000 funerals each year serving a diverse range of communities.

The post holder reports to the Head of Bereavement Registration and Mortuary Services and is responsible for the operational management across the three Birmingham City Council owned crematoria and two associated cemeteries in the city with a requirement to also cover in the absence of the other Registrars. There is also a statutory responsibility to manage closed churchyards across the city.

Applicants will need to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and proven employee management abilities. A comprehensive knowledge of the legislation applicable to burial and cremation will be essential as will be an understanding of the need to provide a high quality sensitive and professional service that can respond to the changing needs of a diverse city.
