Summary
As an integral member Office of the Dean of Students the Education and Support Specialist will shape student development and support student retention by designing and delivering meaningful educational sanctions coordinating educational programming and maintaining critical student conduct records. This position will serve as a visible campus ambassador planning engagement activities at university-wide events and will be responsible for managing multiple programs to ensure compliance with federal regulations. This position will also provide frontline crisis support to students through office coverage and CARE Team collaboration. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Conduct this position will play a vital role in creating a campus culture care while supporting personal growth and accountability.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Student Conduct
Develop coordinate facilitate and track educational sanctions as part of the student conduct process
Adjudicate low-level conduct violations including alcohol and drug policy infractions
Monitor sanction progress to ensure completion of sanctions
Participate in weekly Case Management meetings
Provide training to campus partners on conduct processes and related topics
Stay current with best practices in alcohol and other drug (AOD) student support and incorporate them into educational programming
Student Support
Support the office in responding to students in crisis as directed by the CARE Team
Assess student complaints for appropriate referral within the Office of the Dean of Students or to campus partners
Connect students to appropriate campus resources
Serve as point of contact for parents and guardians regarding student support services
Communication Collaboration and Outreach
Develop a comprehensive communication plan detailing student journey and support services at UCCS
Collaborate with campus partners to ensure consistent messaging on topics of importance to the Dean of Students Office
Maintain Office of Dean of Students website content and resource materials
Coordinate outreach campaigns on conduct processes student rights and available resources
Assist in the development and creation of office communications
Prepare reports and presentations for campus leadership and external stakeholders
Work collaboratively across campus to manage new student education ensuring compliance with federal regulations (currently #SmartMoveUCCS)
Develop educational resources and programming for students parents and campus partners
Coordinate Dean of Students Office participation in campus-wide events including orientation health fair and club fair
