Job Summary

Job Summary

Under general supervision this position provides a safe and fun environment for children in the Fieldhouse Day Camp program through the supervision of designated groups.


*This position performs duties deemed to be safety sensitive. Employees holding this position participate in pre-employment and random drug testing under Towns policies*

  • Assists in the supervision of assigned campers through enforcement of program rules and safety regulations.


  • Assists in the implementation of age appropriate recreational and educational activities.


  • Maintains a safe and positive environment for all programs activities and excursions.


  • Assists with maintaining the schedule for and administration when necessary of medications to children in accordance with State regulations and parental instructions.


  • Ensures all facility venue and building equipment is in proper working order to maintain safe conditions for participants and staff.


  • Actively participates in and serves as a role model throughout daily camp activities.


  • Assists in the resolution of conflicts and or violations of camp rules and regulations.


  • Prepares and analyzes reports and feedback to assess community needs; evaluates industry trends and target markets to benchmark facility operations.


  • Provides first aid in accordance with training to injured participants or staff; alerts supervisor(s) and completes necessary reports in a timely manner.


  • Complies with all State Licensure requirements for Day Camp Counselor.


  • Utilizes effective written and oral communication techniques to communicate with Town of Parker staff management and the public in a positive and professional manner.


  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the education experience certification and/or licensure . An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.


Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.

Possession of or the ability to obtain prior to the first day of working with children the following certifications is : CPR AED & First AID Injury Prevention Heads Up Concussion Mandatory Reporter Playground Safety Universal Precautions and Medication Administration.


Employment Standards

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability .


  • Knowledge of relevant town state and federal laws regulations and policies.

  • Knowledge of the equipment facilities and techniques utilized in a licensed childcare facility.

  • Knowledge of municipal recreation principles and practices.

  • Skill in the supervision of school aged children.

  • Skill in the provision of school aged games and activities.

  • Skill in the provision of first aid.

  • Skill in verbal and written communication.

  • Ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt effective actions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with school aged children and adults.

  • Ability to handle incidents reports and confrontations in a recreation facility.

  • Ability to provide a positive customer service attitude towards all people entering the facility.

  • Ability to implement planned activities in a safe and positive manner.

  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background including but not limited to CBI/FBI criminal record check Department of Social Services Central Registry check and a drug screen.

Tools & Equipment

Requires frequent use of school-aged games and classroom equipment used in a childcare facility.


Physical Demands

Requires regular sitting standing walking talking handling feeling or operating objects stooping kneeling crouching or crawling. Requires occasionalreaching with hands and arms climbing and balancing. Requires moderate physical activity with heavy lifting up to fifty (50) pounds. Requires close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus allowing a broad field of vision.


Environment

Work is frequently performed in a climate-controlled office environment. Employees holding this position may be exposed to extreme cold or heat and wetness/humidity. The noise level is usually high and may range from moderate to extreme. The employee may occasionally work with or around hazardous items or hazardous conditions such as mechanical equipment electrical equipment chemicals or radiant energy.
