The Role
Our client is a non-for-profit organization located in the Tri-City area who is seeking an experienced Finance this role the successful candidate will lead a small finance team collaborate with internal and external stakeholders be responsible for the management and oversight of all financial functions for a large multi-faceted community services of responsibility include: general finance and accounting payroll budgeting and financial analysis risk management and compliance and strategic is a hands-on purpose driven people-oriented senior leadership role. The role reports into the Administration Executive.
Key Accountabilities
General Finance and Accounting
- Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper execution of all accounting systems and functions including internal controls financial policies and procedures.
- Oversee accounts payables/receivables functions.
- Ensure timeliness accuracy and usefulness of financial and management reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements and related reporting.
- Oversee filing of reports to government funders other government entities HST returns and other filings and submissions.
Payroll
- Oversee payroll operations for unionized and salaried workforce ensuring compliance with legislation collective bargaining agreements and organizational policies.
- Establish and maintain payroll controls procedures and audits to ensure data integrity and minimize risk.
- Management reporting and filings of mandatory employment related costs (MERCs) and benefits pension and related remittances and reporting.
Budgeting and Financial Analysis
- Lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process and quarterly forecasting cycles in partnership with department leaders and other senior leadership.
- Provide ongoing annual and multi-year forecasting of revenues and expenses identifying trends risks and opportunities.
- Analyze cash flow and oversee daily cash management and investment portfolios in alignment with organizational policies.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Lead update and maintain the organizations risk management framework.
- Promote a risk-aware culture across the organization and ensure appropriate risk mitigation processes are in place.
- Review monitor and enhance financials controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws privacy requirements and policies.
Strategic Leadership and Collaboration
- Transform complex financial data into actionable insights for organizational leadership board and committees.
- Regularly present financial information to governance and operational leaders.
- Develop and monitor KPIs that measure financial health and support the organizations mission.
- Oversee and manage relationships with external service providers and financial partners.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a bachelors degree and hold a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing.
- 5 years of management experience leading a financial services team.
- 3 years of finance experience within a not-for-profit organization.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with government funder required exceptions to same.
- Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software systems and related tools and databases.
- Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end payroll processes in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated experience with budget development financial reporting and analysis
- Strong commitment to coaching mentoring and managing a high-performance team.
- Demonstrated experience with policy and internal control development.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills along with excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A commitment to professional development and life-long learning.
- Flexible work hours required.
Compensation
- 100K to 112K annually with generous benefits package with a defined contribution pension plan.
