Property & Exhibit Technician II

• Completion of a two (2) year Community College Diploma in Law Enforcement and a minimum of four (4) years experience within a Police or Court environment including two (2) years experience in the receipt disposition and storage of police exhibits.
• Experience using Microsoft Windows Excel Access Outlook and other applicable software.
• Basic knowledge of modern digital media formats especially as it relates to video file extensions and players.
• Knowledge and ability to competently perform all the noted major responsibilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and prepare and maintain a wide variety of documentation reports and files related to assigned cases.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees and other law enforcement agencies.
• A firearms safety course related training or possession of a current PAL (Possession and Acquisition License Restricted and non-restricted) would be considered an asset.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including lifting and moving property weighing up to 35 kg.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• The proven ability to provide superior customer service handle several tasks simultaneously and remain calm under pressure.
• The successful applicant will be required to use CSA approved footwear while performing their duties.
• To operate a City of Edmonton One (1) Ton Cube Van: Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License. Copy of Drivers License required and must be valid for five (5) years. Must complete a City Drivers License application. Applicants may be tested. If applicable must provide out of province drivers abstract.
• Experience with material handling equipment such as forklifts stock pickers and pallet jacks.
• To operate a City of Edmonton Forklift Stock Pickers Pallet Jacks etc: Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License. Copy of Drivers License required and must be valid for five (5) years. Must complete a City Drivers License application. Applicants may be tested. If applicable must provide out of province drivers abstract.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week available hours of 0700-1700 Monday through Friday.

Salary Range: 21B Salary Grade: 017 $34.31 - $43.10 (Hourly) $2745.20 - $3448.20 (Bi-Weekly) $71649.72 - $89996.98 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.

HR Technician: CS

The Edmonton Police Service requires one (1) highly organized and competent Property Technician to work in our Property & Exhibit Unit. The major responsibilities of this position are:

• Taking in categorization location protection care and disposition of court relevant exhibits and property.
• Operating in high security areas members in this position are responsible for ensuring accountability accuracy security and safe handling of all exhibits submitted as evidence to the Property & Exhibit Unit.
• Review and/or copy a variety of audio and video data to prepare data for Crown/Court/disclosure purposes which requires strict adherence to policies and procedures as well as the efficient entry and removal of data from various databases.
• Safe operation of a 1-ton cube van ½ ton truck or any other Class 5 vehicle to facilitate the retrieval and transport of property.
• Providing customer service to police members owners finders and claimants.
• Safe use and operation of small power hand tools metal shearing machine and forklift/reach truck.
• Completing special assignments as assigned.
