Boeings UK & Ireland Government Affairs teamsfunction is to understand andshapepublic policy and the political landscape in UK and Ireland. Working closely with colleagues in the EU and internationally the team coversa very largeportfolio of policy issues of significant importance to Boeing across Boeings business divisions (including commercialdefenceand services) including but not limited to:

  • Defence Security and Space.

  • Aviation and Aerospace industry.

  • Environment and sustainability.

  • Trade.

  • Party Politics.

While the applicant will be expected to support and be familiar with all the issues in the UK & Ireland Government Affairs portfoliothis role will naturally align with Boeingsdefencebusinesses includingDefenceUK (BDUK) our UK P&Ldefenceentity includingworking closely with BDUKs Leadership Team.

PLEASE NOTE:This role will be forafixed termcontract(around 18 months)

Position Responsibilities:

  • Advocacy within UK Parliament including with MPs and Lords with a focus onDefenceissues.

  • ShapeUKdefenceprocurement policy includingdefenceindustrial policy.

  • ShapeUKdefencepolicy including specific issuespertaining tothe UK MOD and UK Armed Forces.

  • CoordinateUKDefencestakeholder management.

  • Supportdefencebusiness developmentin the UK.


The role will require frequent evening working during the week (e.g.representingBoeing atnetworking events) and the occasional weekend (e.g.at airshows). The applicant must be prepared tofrequentlytravel in-country as well as occasionalinternationaltravel including to the U.S.(Seattle and Washington DC) and Brussels for up to two weeks at a time.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience of working with and/or within UK government
  • Fluent in both verbal and written English

Preferred Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • An astute national and international political antenna with a deep understanding of internationaldefenceand security strategic context.
  • Experience of developing and working with complex policy.
  • A deep understanding of how government and parliament work specifically with respect todefenceissues.
  • Recent experience of working with and/or within UK national security departments and entities (e.g.No10 Cabinet Office His Majestys Treasury Ministry ofDefence Home Office OGDs Royal Air Force Army and Royal Navy) would be beneficial.
