- Coordinates the activities with Point of Care Testing (POCT) staff; monitors and reallocates resources to meet performance expectations and operational needs
- Oversees operations and maintenance protocols quality assurance and quality control proficiencies purchasing and inventory management processes
- Responsible for workload / statistical reports; including non-captured service recipient and non-service recipient workload units
- Oversees all verification validation and operation qualification protocols for Point-of-Care equipment reagents and supplies
- Provides update on POCT activity to the Clinical Managers at each area.
- Keeps current with technical methodologies performance standards and evidence-based practice
- Maintains theoretical knowledge of related laboratory discipline to provide consultative services within scope of practice
- Manages workload effectively and efficiently working with team members to identify and solve problems meet deadlines and set priorities
- Collaborates with peers management professional leader and quality manager; using the organizational reporting structure to address conflict and develop solutions prior to escalation
- Monitors spending; follows Oslers procurement practices; investigate discrepancies and reports on variances; brings any issues challenges and risks forward to management as necessary
- Moves laboratory practices forward with innovative technologies and new processes using project and change management skills
- Ensures the department meets the IQMH requirements and the Accreditation Canada Diagnostic
- Investigation corrective action and follow-up for all non-conformances; discordant results complaints employee incident reports
- Provides performance feedback to staff to identify developmental opportunities competency gaps and/or provide performance recognition.
- Coaches and mentors others; sets goals identifies areas requiring focused attention with defined outcome targets
- Collaborates effectively with all key stakeholders
- Travel between sites as required.
- As required attend hospital during off duty hours to attend to emergency situations
- Other duties as required to support organizational need and requirements
Qualifications :
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technologist program (or equivalent degree program as approved by CSMLS)
- Must be registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
- ART POCT certification or related Health Science degree. Leadership and/or supervisory courses preferred
- A combination of continuing education and working experience will be considered
- Minimum of six (6) years relevant laboratory experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Point of Care testing is requiredSupervisory and/or leadership experience a definite asset
- Experience with Meditech Paradigm POCT middleware and Microsoft Office programs is an asset
- A combination of continuing education and working experience will be considered
- Proven ability to work in a diverse team environment
- Effective organizational time management interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Demonstrated change management while leading projects fostering a culture of teamwork
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development of self and other staff
- Excellent attendance punctuality and work ethic
- Must demonstrate Oslers Values of Respect Excellence Service Compassion Innovation and Collaboration
