Description
The George a newly renovated residential community in Washington D.C. is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our on-site operations team. This role is responsible for maintaining the propertys mechanical systems residential units common areas and overall curb appeal while ensuring a safe and well-presented living environment for residents.
This is a hands-on position requiring strong technical skills attention to detail and the ability to respond to emergencies and on-call situations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete service requests and work orders for residential units and common areas
- Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and household appliances
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC plumbing electrical systems appliances and general building components
- Maintain property grounds and exterior cleanliness
- Support apartment turnover processes in coordination with management
- Oversee and verify third-party vendor work quality on site
- Maintain inventory and order necessary maintenance supplies
- Respond to building emergencies (flooding fire mechanical failure etc.)
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of building maintenance experience in a multi-unit residential or student housing environment
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC plumbing electrical appliances and general repair
- EPA I & II certification required (HVAC certification strongly preferred)
- Technical or vocational schooling in HVAC or related field preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair building systems independently
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows systems

- Ability to prioritize and manage tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional communication skills
- Ability to build effective working relationships
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand walk climb stairs and ladders for extended periods
- Lift and move up to 50 lbs. without assistance (more with assistance)
- Work in confined spaces and at heights as needed
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Exposure to dust dirt chemicals and equipment noise
