Master Scheduler-Planner
Position Summary
The Master Scheduler-Planner is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive production plans that align customer demand with operational capacity. This role ensures the effective coordination of materials labor and equipment to meet delivery targets while optimizing inventory levels and manufacturing efficiency. The position acts as a key liaison across departments to drive operational alignment and continuous improvement.
Core Functions
Long-Range & Short-Term Planning: Develop rolling forecasts (312 months) and detailed weekly/daily production schedules to support business objectives and customer commitments.
Demand & Capacity Alignment: Balance customer orders and sales forecasts against plant capacity workforce availability and material supply.
ERP/MRP Governance: Maintain accuracy of planning data including lead times lot sizing safety stock and routing parameters to ensure system reliability.
Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with Sales Engineering Procurement Operations and Quality to prioritize work and resolve scheduling conflicts.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to convert demand plans into executable manufacturing orders.
Conduct capacity analysis and Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) to proactively identify bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions.
Establish and manage appropriate finished goods and component safety stock levels.
Adjust production schedules to accommodate material constraints equipment downtime engineering changes and urgent customer needs.
Monitor and report key performance indicators including On-Time Delivery (OTD) schedule attainment forecast accuracy and capacity utilization.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput reduce waste and improve service performance.
Required Skills & Competencies
ERP Expertise: Advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP Oracle or similar platforms).
Data & Analytical Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel and data analysis to support decision-making.
Problem Solving: Ability to analyze competing priorities and implement balanced data-driven solutions.
Communication & Negotiation: Skilled at aligning customer expectations with operational realities.
Quantitative Ability: Comfortable calculating lead times inventory parameters and cost impacts.
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Industrial Engineering Operations Management Business or related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience in production planning or manufacturing operations will be considered.
