Job Summary

IEEE is the worlds largest professional technical organization with over 500000 members worldwide and IEEE Spectrum is the organizations award-winning flagship publication. We are looking for a journalism intern with a background or a strong interest in science and technology who is interested in explaining technological breakthroughs to a broad but educated audience.

The internship is mostly reporting and writing news for the website and the magazine. However past interns have also been involved in features for special reports infographics and other parts of the publication. The goal is for the intern to come away having written a number of in-depth news stories. The heart of most such stories is explaining how something thats quite complicated works. Thats our bread-and-butter and our readers are very demanding about it. So if you can do it here you can do it anywhere.

Internships typically run June to August. Youll work out of our New York City office up to 30 hours per week.

Demonstrated interest in science or technology journalism. Bachelors degree in engineering computer science or physical sciences preferred.
