Hitachi Ltd. - Shipping & Receiving Specialist
Job Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist at Hitachi Ltd. plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficient flow of goods and materials within our operations. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely handling of incoming and outgoing shipments ensuring proper documentation and inventory control.
Responsibilities
* Receive inspect and document all incoming materials parts and products verifying against purchase orders and packing lists.
* Prepare and process outgoing shipments including packaging labeling and generating shipping documentation (e.g. bills of lading customs forms).
* Operate forklifts pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
* Maintain accurate inventory records through data entry into inventory management systems.
* Coordinate with internal departments (e.g. production sales procurement) to facilitate timely material movement.
* Identify and report discrepancies damages or shortages in shipments.
* Maintain a clean organized and safe working environment in the shipping and receiving area.
* Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures as well as relevant shipping regulations.
* Assist with cycle counting and physical inventory processes as required.
* Communicate effectively with carriers suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* 1-3 years of experience in a shipping receiving or warehouse environment.
* Proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
* Experience with inventory management systems (e.g. ERP systems) and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
* Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations a plus.
