JOB SUMMARY

The Industrial Design Intern will use their skills in the conceptual process for new product creation within the Polaris product portfolio. The Design candidate will work withan experienced Designer at our Design Studio in Minnesota. The Designer must attendweekly project critiquestomaintainastrongIndustrial Design focus andmust contribute toa professional design process on various projects. The Designerwill need to create concepts that meet or exceed our customers expectationsasdeterminedthroughthe Voice of Customer by using product descriptions todevelop atheme. Daily work will include absorbing criteria-ledrequirementsfrom Product Managers Engineers and Manufacturing. The designs from the Intern may be refined executed andutilizedup to and including production Design Intern will interact withall peer groups at a level thatrequiressolid decision-making and they willbe requiredto present their work to various levels of PolarisLeadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Sketches and executes original designs through segment category research while regularly making decisions with guidance from Senior Designersregardingcharacteristics that fit VOC and Brand DNAwhile incorporating these to improve his/her work.

  • Presents concepts and ideas to Design peers and Design Management alongside Senior and Lead designers and provides project feedback during the weekly program meetings.

  • Presents team members with the story behind their designs and taking notes aboutnextsteps and actions to progress their designs.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional team including Engineering and Product Managers on their respective projects.

  • Works with Clay Modelers if theirtheme/design is selected.

  • Works with Digital Modelers during theme/design development.

  • Creates Digital-Design assetsthroughdigitalsoftware provided to you throughthePolarisDesign Dept.

  • Should be proficient with softwareincludingbut not limited to:BlenderGravity SketchKeyshot AliasPhotoshopand Illustrator.

  • Design development will be presented weekly on display monitors or large-format printouts during design critiques.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Design portfolio isforconsideration.Please submit as a link or PDF; if the link does not work include a PDF version.

  • Currently enrolled in an Industrial Design program at a recognized Design School.

  • 1years experience

  • Powersports experience a plus

  • Peer-review experience a plus

  • Strong communicationskills

  • Good team player greatattitudeand desire to learn.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This is a hands-on studio-based internship in Medina Minnesota and requires beingonsitefive (5)days a week.Therole offers exposure to advanced CMF development graphics workflows and full-scale vehicle mockups within a professional design studio environment. Interns will gain real-world experience supporting production-focused design work while learning how CMF and graphics contribute to the developmentof high-performance Polaris products.

The salary range for this position in Minnesota is$19.50 to $30.75per hour. Individual salaries within those ranges aredeterminedthrough a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education experience knowledge skills and geography.
