Position: Reading Intervention Teacher

Reports to: Director of Summer Success Program
Salary range: $40/Hourly
Schedule: Monday through Thursday 8:00 am -12:00 pm includes 30 min of prep a day
General Description:
The Reading Intervention Teacher will work with small groups of students in grades K-5 providing targeted literacy instruction using Fundations and Heggerty materials. The role includes using data to drive lessons monitoring progress with DIBELS and creating end-of-summer progress reports for families. Teachers will foster a love for reading and encourage academic conversations in a responsive classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Teach grouping of students in grades K-5. (Small groupings students)
- Use responsive classroom management strategies to co-teach morning meeting
- Conduct small group literacy lessons using Fundations and Heggerty materials
- Provide targeted differentiated reading instruction using data to drive lessons
- Gather progress monitoring data using DIBELS measures
- Create an end of summer progress report for families
- Encourage a love of reading and talking about books
Qualifications:
- A current Massachusetts Teaching License/Certification
- Three or more successful years of experience teaching students in literacy preferred
- Experience working with elementary students.
- Experience collaborating with colleagues
- Familiarity with best practices in evidence-based structured literacy instruction
- Holds the belief that all children can learn and learn to read and write effectively
- Familiarity with Responsive Classroom practices language and beliefs
- Attend pre-program training and weekly faculty meetings.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to sit stand walk talk hear operate a computer hand-held learning devices and other office equipment reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
