Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for safely moving staging and organizing raw materials components and finished products throughout the production facility. This role supports fabrication welding painting and shipping departments by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials and maintaining inventory organization and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Load unload and move materials using forklifts overhead cranes pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
- Deliver materials components and tools to the appropriate production areas according to work orders and schedules.
- Assist with receiving and inspecting incoming materials for quantity and quality.
- Label tag and store materials in designated storage areas while maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of shortages damage or discrepancies.
- Prepare materials for shipment including packaging labeling and staging for outbound logistics.
- Follow proper lifting techniques and company safety procedures to prevent injuries and equipment damage.
- Maintain accurate records of material movement and transactions using production tracking systems.
- Assist in cycle counts and physical inventory audits as required.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies procedures and government regulations (e.g. OSHA standards).
- Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Promptly report any accidents injuries unsafe conditions or potential hazards to a supervisor.
- Actively participate in all mandatory safety training drills and development programs to improve skills and knowledge.
- Work cooperatively with team members to achieve production goals and departmental objectives.
- Adhere to all company policies procedures and codes of conduct.
- Monitor own work to ensure it meets quality specifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
- Monday-Friday 1st Shift (6:00am 2:00pm) 2nd Shift (2:00pm 10:00pm) 3rd Shift (10:00pm 6:00am)
- Depending on production needs some weekend work may be required.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Experience: 12 years of experience in a manufacturing warehouse or construction environment preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes; certification is a plus or must be obtained upon hire.
- Basic math and computer skills for inventory tracking and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail organization and time management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced physically demanding environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to read write and understand basic English and/or Spanish to interpret and follow safety guidelines and work instructions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand walk bend stoop kneel crouch and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to lift push and pull objects weighing up to e.g. 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions common to a manufacturing facility (e.g. varying temperatures noise levels potential for dust/debris wet floors).
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating equipment and handling supplies.
