This competition is to fill one (1) full-time and two (2) part-time one-year term positions working rotating 12-hour shifts in a 24-hour period 7 days a week operational schedule.
It will establish a12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

Your role
The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for residents their families staff and members of the public entering Whistle Bend Place. This position is responsible for creating a warm welcoming and respectful environment for residents and visitors. Duties include directing supporting and engaging residents and their families; providing administrative support to program areas; and liaising with local government organizations nongovernment organizations and First Nations.

Essential Qualifications

- Recent experience working in an administrative or reception role providing service to the public by email telephone and in person in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook) and familiarity with standard office equipment including printers fax machines and multi-line phone systems
- Experience providing client-focused service to residents families staff and the general public in a confidential manner
- Experience with shift work in a 24/7 administrative environment and/or experience working in a long-term care setting is considered an asset

- Conflict resolution skills applicable to a wide range of situations

- Demonstrated experience and/or training in de-escalation techniques
- Ability and drive to independently identify and complete additional tasks once primary responsibilities are finished
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks manage calendars and maintain an organized front desk while handling confidential information
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Professional welcoming attitude; reliability; and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Job Requirements
This job requires you to perform and/or be exposed to the following:
- Ability to work shifts in a 24-hour 7 days a week facility including nights weekends and statutory holidays
- Possible exposure to infectious diseases latex products second hand smoke animals plants and flowers
- Interaction with residentsfamilies staff and members of the public
- Sitting standing bending and occasional lifting (up to approximately 50 lbs)
- Position-specific trainingprovided for fire alarm system medical gas system and door system
- Possible exposure to unpredictable and/or volatile behaviour from residents; Gentle Persuasive Approach training provided
- Work is performed in the reception area of a long-term care facility; Share workspace
