Summary/Objective of Position:
The Student Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for a sound counseling referral process and virtual wellness support and intervention for college students. The Coordinator will foster a cohesive culture of wellness by developing implementing and evaluating outreach intervention and educational activities in the following areas of student life: Health Promotion Mental/Emotional Health and Wellness and Academic Support. The Coordinator promotes the development of a culture of mental emotional and physical wellness and resilience to promote healthy student behavior across the campuses ensuring student retention and success.

PLANS ORGANIZES AND COORDINATES
Develop strategic plans goals and measurable objectives for a cohesive mental health promotion program which include policies services and interventions to ensure adequate integration processing and delivery of technology-oriented student support services that align with students skills knowledge and abilities.
Implement evidence-based programming to improve student wellness awareness and behaviors and to eliminate health disparities.
Provide direct guidance and support for students experiencing isolation boredom stress and depression.
DEVELOPS AND IMPLEMENTS NEW INITIATIVES
Implement a telehealth service and a sound student referral process for external counseling services mediating conflicts and academic help.
Design and implement innovative programs and services that meet the needs of the student population using evidence-based research and best practices and offer a comprehensive plan for transforming approaches to student mental health.
Design plans to eliminate barriers and building am ore supportive and inclusive campus.
Research design expand and implement proactive and personalized student support services to promote the comprehensive development of students well-being: physical emotional social and academic that empower students with opportunities for academic success.
Develop and launch in-person and virtual programs workshops and initiatives for mental health education (such as health fairs) as well as target specific interventions and create programming initiatives to support the challenges of diverse student groups.
COORINDATES / COLLABORATION OF SERVICES
Maintain collaborative relationships with students faculty staff and community partners to develop a stronger cohesive and comprehensive approach to health for students; to reinforce a comprehensive holistic development of students.
Work directly with students who are undergoing life changes challenges and emotional distress.
Encourage students to participate in curricular and co-curricular learning activities that provide positive relationship-building.
Establish a network with local mental health services as a referral and resource for students.
MONITORS AND REPORTS
Create a culture of wellness by assessing student wellness through surveys focus groups and other methods.
Develop implement and analyze surveys that provide baseline data. Identify program and student needs and priorities.
Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services for student retention and academic success.
Track trends in student health status and behavior to improve services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
BA/BS degree in Counseling Social Work or Public Health and/or closely related field; plus 3 years of higher education work experience and/or 3 years of mental health or behavioral health clinical experience.
Preferred:
MA/MS degree in Counseling Social Work or Public Health and/or closely related field; plus 2 years of higher education work experience and/or 2 years of mental health or behavioral health clinic experience.
Knowledge:
Working knowledge of current laws and best practices related to FERPA HIPAA ADA and other applicable regulations.
Knowledge of community counseling services.
Skills:
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals including students faculty staff administrators and members of the public.
Demonstrated ability to work with and among diverse communities and cultures.
Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/tasks with thorough attention to detail and consistency.
Ability to set and attain goals while working both collaboratively and independently on various projects.
Physical Requirements Work Environment & Travel:
Physical requirements are no more than what one encounters in a general office setting.
Other Requirement(s):
Bilingual speaker Navajo language is desirable but not necessary. State issued Drivers License.
