Public Affairs serves as a critical component of DCAS outreach and engagement strategy focusing on shaping and managing the organizations relationship with the public media and other external stakeholders. Public Affairs carries out its work via multiple teams including The City Record External Affairs and the Office of Communications which houses multiple specialized units including Creative Services Media Services Reproduction Services and Special Events.
The Director for Integrated Marketing and Citywide Initiatives will serve as a senior strategic partner to the leadership of Public Affairs helping to shape align and advance high-priority marketing efforts across the agency and citywide. This role is designed to provide executive-level counsel cross-agency coordination and strategic oversight ensuring that major initiatives are positioned with clarity cohesion and impact. Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner of Public Affairs the director will focus on strategy alignment and stakeholder management. The position plays a critical role in bridging leadership priorities with creative and marketing outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Executive Strategy and Advisory:
-Advise the assistant commissioner on marketing strategy brand positioning and public-facing narratives
-Support decision-making on high-visibility initiatives launches and campaigns
-Identify opportunities to elevate agency and citywide storytelling
Citywide Initiative Alignment:
-Provide strategic oversight for marketing efforts tied to citywide initiatives such as NYC Learn NYC Gives and citywide recruitment
-Ensure alignment across agencies Public Affairs units and City Hall partners
-Help set shared goals messaging frameworks and success metrics
Cross-Agency Coordination:
-Serve as a senior point of contact for interagency marketing collaboration
-Facilitate alignment on timelines messaging and creative direction
-Anticipate and address risks or gaps in coordination
Brand and Narrative Stewardship:
-Support consistency in tone messaging and brand application across major initiatives
-Help guide the development of overarching narratives that connect programs to broader city priorities
-Ensure that marketing efforts reflect equity accessibility and public trust
Special Projects and Innovation:
-Lead or support special marketing initiatives at the direction of the Public Affairs leadership team
-Explore new approaches platforms and partnerships to modernize public-sector marketing
-Provide strategic input on pilot programs new campaigns or emerging needs

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience of a nature to qualify for the duties of the position at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative managerial or executive capacity or supervising personnel performing activities related to the duties of the position; or
2. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 above. However all candidates must have the 18 months of administrative managerial executive or supervisory experience described in 1 above.
