Job Title: Caregiver Supervisor
Department: Preferred Care at Home of Virginia Beach
Position Summary
The Caregiver Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all field caregivers within a non-medical home care agency. This role ensures that clients receive safe high-quality and compassionate care in their homes. The Caregiver Supervisor provides direct supervision coaching and support to caregivers; conducts client home visits; ensures compliance with state home care regulations; and serves as a key liaison between clients families caregivers and office staff.
Key Responsibilities
Caregiver Supervision & Field Oversight
Supervise Home Care Aides (HCAs) Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Personal Care Aides (PCAs) providing in-home services.
Conduct routine and unscheduled supervisory visits in client homes.
Observe caregiver performance to ensure adherence to care plans and agency standards.
Provide real-time coaching and corrective action when necessary.
Participate in caregiver recruitment interviewing onboarding and orientation.
Conduct performance evaluations and competency assessments.
Client Care & Quality Assurance
Ensure services are delivered according to individualized care plans.
Complete initial client introductions when appropriate.
Perform regular client quality assurance visits and satisfaction checks.
Investigate incidents complaints or concerns and document findings.
Update care plans in collaboration with the Director of Nursing or Administrator.
Monitor client condition changes and communicate concerns promptly.
Scheduling & Staffing Support
Collaborate with scheduling coordinators to ensure proper client coverage.
Address call-offs and urgent staffing needs.
Assist in matching caregivers to clients based on skills personality and client needs.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure compliance with state home care regulations and agency policies.
Maintain accurate caregiver and client documentation.
Verify caregiver certifications background checks and required training are current.
Ensure proper documentation of supervisory visits and incident reports.
Support readiness for state surveys or audits.
Training & Professional Development
Identify caregiver training needs and coordinate in-service education.
Reinforce infection control safety protocols and client rights.
Provide mentorship to new caregivers during probationary periods.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
25 years of experience in home care personal care services or a related field.
Prior supervisory experience in a home care setting strongly preferred.
Knowledge of state home care regulations and compliance requirements.
Strong leadership organizational and communication skills.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for field visits.
Proficiency in home care software systems and Microsoft Office.

Work Environment
Combination of office work and frequent travel to client homes.
On-call rotation may be required.

- Required to work PRN for caregiver call outs. PRN will take precedence over supervisory role when necessary to cover shifts that are open. This is non-negotiable for this position.
- This position is for 20 hours a week but with PRN hours in addition to supervisory role hours will be closer to 40 hours a week. Some weekends may be required as needed.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel locally daily.
Ability to sit stand bend and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds if assisting with caregiver demonstrations.
