Director Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the this vital role you will be responsible for the strategic leadership modernization and global delivery of Amgens enterprise resilience capabilities. This role will lead the end-to-end BCDR service and plays a meaningful role in driving the multi-functional Global Business Resilience Network (GBRN) in partnership with Global Security and Enterprise Risk Management ensuring the organization can effectively prepare for respond to and recover from disruptive events impacting people operations technology and critical business processes.

This role is being established to lead a material transformation of the BCDR service driven by increased strategic expectations rapidly growing global scope and workforce growth. You will define and implement a modern service strategy and operating model innovate new ways to deliver the service using automation and AI-enabled capabilities and standardize global practices to improve resilience maturity scalability and business alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a multi-year strategy for GBRN and BCDR aligned to enterprise risk business priorities and regulatory expectations
  • Develop and implement a modern scalable global operating model across Business Continuity Disaster Recovery Crisis Management and Emergency Management
  • Lead service modernization initiatives including process simplification automation self-service and AI-enabled capabilities
  • Establish clear roles responsibilities governance and RACI models across partners
  • Lead and develop a globally distributed team including expanded delivery capacity in India
  • Establish consistent ways of working intake prioritization and service management cadences
  • Ensure effective onboarding training cross-skilling and knowledge transfer across the distributed team
  • Foster a culture of accountability continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Own enterprise Business Impact Analysis (BIA) Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) and exercise programs
  • Ensure alignment and integration across GBRN disciplines and with enterprise crisis and incident management processes
  • Champion global integrated exercises including lessons learned and corrective actions
  • Maintain audit readiness and ensure compliance with internal policies ISO standards and regulatory expectations (e.g. FDA EMA SOX)
  • Manage the BCDR technology roadmap including tooling decisions integrations and platform optimization
  • Partner to integrate BCDR with relevant enterprise platforms
  • Drive automation of administrative and operational tasks to reduce manual effort and improve scalability
  • Leverage data metrics and maturity assessments to make decisions and demonstrate value to leadership
  • Serve as a senior partner to business technology security risk and regional leadership
  • Translate resilience risks and capabilities into clear business-relevant insights for executives
  • Influence functional and regional leaders to drive accountability for resilience ownership

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years ofexperience in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery or related field OR
  • Masters degree with 8 years of experience in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery or related field OR
  • Bachelors degree with 10 years of experience in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery or related field

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams projects programs or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above

Preferred Qualifications:

In-depth knowledge of enterprise Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery programs and best practices

Experience designing and operating global service models and governance frameworks

Strong understanding of Business Impact Analysis and critical process/system dependencies

Proven ability to engage and communicate with senior business and technology leaders

Experience integrating Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery with crisis management emergency management or enterprise risk programs

Experience leveraging automation AI or analytics to improve operational or risk management services

Experience with BC/DR platforms system integrations or ServiceNow

Experience operating in regulated or highly controlled environments

Experience with shared services or global delivery models

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to relevant skills experience and qualifications.
