Job Summary
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Head of Accounting to manage the full accounting cycle and maintain the General Ledger. The role ensures accurate and timely recording of financial transactions delivering a fully reconciled trial balance to the Director of Finance.
This is a hands-on leadership role operating with a high degree of autonomy and overseeing both transactional processes and compliance.
Location: Hybrid Gzira
Responsibilities:
As a Head of Accounting your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Own and maintain the accuracy of the General Ledger
Post and review journal entries accruals and prepayments
Ensure all accounts are properly reconciled
Lead the month-end close process within strict deadlines
Complete and verify all balance sheet reconciliations
Act as primary contact for external auditors
Prepare audit files and supporting documentation
Ensure smooth annual audit process
Prepare and submit VAT returns
Handle required Maltese and international statutory filings
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA MIA or equivalent)
Minimum 10 years experience in a senior accounting role
Big 4 background highly advantageous
Experience in multi-currency environments
Strong intercompany reconciliation experience
iGaming or online advertising experience is an advantage
Proven people management experience
Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP Pivot Tables complex formulas)
Strong knowledge of IFRS
Solid understanding of Maltese VAT and tax legislation
Experience with ERP systems and accounting software
