Job Summary

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nations largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

As part of NAMIs commitment to mental health for all NAMI is committed to exploring the intersection between faith spirituality and mental health connecting pastors/faith leaders with education and access to quality resources for their own wellness journey and helping to develop mental health friendly stigma free places of worship. Through generous grant funding NAMI is expanding its faith outreach efforts.

We currently have an opening for a Project Manager. The Project Manager will manage a portfolio of cross-departmental projects for the National Office. This position is responsible for the managing and overseeing of all project stages from initiation to closeout to deliver target outcomes within scope schedule and budget constraints. A key player in NAMIs Project Management Office this individual will help ensure projects are successfully executed in line with NAMIs mission strategic priorities and resource commitments.

This full-time position can be Hybrid in Arlington VA or Remote.

Salary Range: $70000 - $75000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage national level cross-departmental projects to support and achieve the organizations strategic priorities.
  • Responsible for managing all project phases from initiation to closeout to deliver target outcomes within scope budget and schedule constraints.
  • Lead and facilitate project planning sessions with project owner internal and external stakeholders and project team members. Synthesize information from all stakeholders to accurately define scope milestones resource requirements and target outcomes.
  • Establish clear decision-making and communication processes for cross-functional project teams. Responsible for ensuring all work is appropriately tasked out and completed appropriately.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that ensure all deliverables are on time with respect to competing organizational timelines and priorities and track projects in project management platform.
  • Conduct and manage procurements with third-party vendors. Ensure seamless collaboration with project staff. Coordinate and validate timely receipt of high-quality deliverables.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation including project charters detailed project plans and schedules risk logs progress reports and closeout reports.
  • Manage changes to the project scope schedule and costs. Deliver quantitative and qualitative project reports for the project team and Senior Leadership. Develop and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Establishes a clear communication plan to successfully handoff to operations after the project closeout.
  • Support the development of PMO standards and procedures. Provide thought leadership around project analyses and methods. Identify propose and implement process improvement strategies across project teams and the organization.
  • Assist with event planning tasks related to annual national convention NAMICon.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-year degree
  • 2 - 4 years of project management experience
  • Experience in nonprofit operations preferred
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and practical application in a fast-paced business environment. Ability to translate project goals into achievable operationalized tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: We are a supportive PMO and our philosophy is we are client-facing where we serve the rest of NAMI departments. This individual will need to be skilled at enriching relationships while providing effective leadership in managing various teams to meet project goals. Ability to partner effectively with stakeholders across multiple internal departments and external organizations.
  • Ability to interface with and manage communications at all levels within the organization including senior management (C-level executives) Executive Directors at our state and local affiliate organizations and key partners and funders with a high-level of confidence and professionalism.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize tasks within time and resource constraints.
  • Pro-active and takes initiative to anticipate the needs of the project project team and stakeholders as well as identify opportunities of improvement areas.
  • Ability to adapt and flex to evolving project landscape with changes in scope and changes in project teams needs.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making: although guidelines and policies are available many tasks require the interpretation and evaluation of guidelines or policies as they relate to a particular situation. This individual has the ability to make sound decisions with minimal oversight from supervisor.
  • Cognizant of interactions between project level details and program strategy to be a proactive contributor to both.
  • Strong analysis and creative problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Office 365 MS Office products Slack and using project management software such as Asana. Experience with Salesforce preferred.
  • While this role is 100% remote this individual should have the ability to travel domestically once or twice a year as needed.
  • Project Management Certification preferred.
