The College of Aviation at the Prescott Arizona campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track faculty position in meteorology commencing immediately in support of our B. S. degrees in Applied Meteorology Aeronautical Science Aeronautics Uncrewed Aircraft Systems and Air Traffic Management.

Candidates with prior teaching experience and a broad background in meteorology are invited to apply. Applicants must be able to evidence a strong commitment to quality teaching. We especially encourage applications from candidates with experience in aviation or operational weather forecasting.

The successful candidate will join a team of three Ph.D. meteorologists and will be expected to teach the equivalent of four 3-credit hour courses per semester at the undergraduate level. The candidate is encouraged to pursue research/scholarship and will mentor undergraduate research projects. Current research interests within the department include mesoscale meteorology the North American Monsoon cloud physics synoptic-dynamical meteorology and optical/microwave satellite remote sensing.

The curriculum for the Applied Meteorology degree program is published at One of the principal teaching responsibilities will be to instruct meteorology classes in support of our large and expanding aviation programs for which the candidate must be able to communicate and motivate students to understand the importance of meteorology in all applications of aviation.

Additionally successful candidates must be eager to participate in the departments and colleges commitment to mentoring students regarding their course options and career pursuits as well as service on university committees and in the larger community.


This is a nine-month non-tenure-track position with the possibility of summer teaching for additional pay and/or externally funded research.

Qualifications

Masters or Meteorology Science - Preferred industry experience.

Excellent communication and mentoring skills to support university and college aviation programs and initiatives.


Ideally the applicant holds a masters or bachelors degree but with extensive work experience in the field the requirement of a degree may be omitted.
