Job Summary/Purpose:
Individual contributorroleresponsible for design engineering and project planning/execution in support of Entergys Telecommunication Transport Network including inside plant outside plant signalscommunicationsystems andprotocolscreation and maintenance ofallassociated recordsplus other duties as assigned.
Job DutiesandResponsibilities:
Provide telecom engineering supportas described belowfor EntergysEasternRegion operating footprint whichisroughlythewestern half of the state of day travel and occasional overnight travel arerequiredto adequately support requirements of this position.
This position can be filled as an IT Consultant or Senior IT be considered for the Senior IT Consultant classification the candidate must fulfil allsubsequently-listedresponsibilities PLUSdemonstratethe ability to:
Lead resolution of complex technical problems through coordination of efforts with Entergy IT personnel customers and vendors.
Provide expert analysis of proposed network changesregardingneed immediate impact future capabilityrequiredsupportive skills and the respective cost for each including opportunity cost.
Develop strategic and tactical plans for network expansion reliability improvements operational improvements support the ever-changing needs of a multi-state utility.
Serve as a Technical Mentor and SME for more junior engineers as needed.
Provide Telecom engineering services forover440siteswithinEasternRegion including but not limited to: office buildings operational centers power generating stations substation control houses telecom shelters microwave radio sheltersoutdoorequipment cabinets which areconnected by over2700route miles ofvarious types offiber cableplus29digital microwave hops.
Support Entergys operational companies through project scoping;estimatedevelopment;design and execution of new OPGW ADSSand underground fiber optic cable construction.
Design and implement new packet transportandsupport legacytime division-multiplexedcommunication systems on fiber optic cableplantand/or digital microwavesystemsallaligned to meetallidentified needs as well asanticipatedfuture service requirements.
Interact with and serve a variety of internal customers including Entergy Transmission Relay Design Grid OperationsGenerationFacilities and IT.
Plan develop and deliverdetailedengineering packages to driveworkand support actions of skilled craftsmen in the field as they install test and turn up fiber optic cable plantcommunication systems and communication services.
Plan and implement changes to infrastructure and systems using Entergys change management processesand systems create supporting documentation such as detailed work procedures coordinate and obtain outage clearances from various entities etc.
Create andmaintainGIS informationhardware recordssystem designandserviceprovisioning records in Entergy Telecoms operational support system Connect Master.
Adhere to and continuallylook for opportunities toimprove Entergy TelecomEngineeringdesign standards being mindful of master sources such as the National Electric Code the National Electric Safety CodeTelcordia industry best practices etc.
Collaborate withfellowengineers and technicians to create and implement the best solutions possible within the framework of any given project looking forsystemicrelationships beyond theimmediateproject scopeidentifyingmutual dependencies benefitsor impacts.
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelors Degree in ElectricalorElectronic EngineeringElectricalorElectronicEngineering Technology a related field or equivalent work professional certifications or licenses aredesired.
Minimum Experience Required:
Sr. IT Consultant: 10 years of directly relevant experience; 12 years of directly relevant experience desired.
IT Consultant:5 years ofdirectlyrelevant experience;8 years ofdirectlyrelevant experiencedesired.
IT Specialist: will consider the right recentgraduateof the degree programs mentioned abovefor extensive on-the-job trainingand development.

The ideal candidate will:
Be a knowledge-seeking self-starter whocan function without theimmediate and constant direction of management and ability toidentifyknowledge gaps and independently seek informationrequiredto fill gaps is strongly desired.
Be well-versed in all aspects of telecom engineering:1)inside/outsideplantdesign and construction2) system-level design oftelecomtransmissionsystems 3) packet-based transport namely MPLS-TP4)time-division multiplexingsystemssuch as SONET 1/0 DCS channel banks and 5) systemand servicedocumentationusing a relational databasesystem.
Have asolidworking knowledge of IP.
Be skilled withdesign andproductivity software including Excel Word Visio Outlook andcollaboration tools such asMicrosoft Teams.
Haverelevantdirectexperience using a GIS database system such as Connect Master ArcGIS Small World etc.
Be familiar with electronic work management systems such as Service NOW Remedy etc.
Beskilledwith telecommunication-centricoperational support systems such as Connect MasterMetaSolv TIRKS etc.
Be skilled in construction and design considerationsregardingoutside plant such as right-of-way materials installationtechniquesdocumentation requirementscreation of job specifications working with and directing the actions ofconstruction contractors etc.
EmbraceEntergys safety culture and employ safety principles when designing new projects and improving existing systems and infrastructure.
Demonstrate flexibility and a readiness to learnnew technologiesand new processes continuallystriving toimprovethequality of theirownwork product andimprovecapability/reliability ofEntergys network.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills whether across organizationswithin the companyor vertically within theIT-Telecom organization or outside the company.
Be familiar with electric utility organization operation and regulation.
