ROLE SUMMARY:
Reddam House is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Visual Arts Teacher to join our innovative and collaborative school community. This teacher will leverage extensive experience and subject expertise to deliver high-quality instruction primarily to Stage 4 students for the remainder of Term 1. It offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to two growing subject areas within a progressive and academically focused school environment which strongly values art and design. This is immediate start for term 1 cover. For candidates with Stage 5/6 experience there may also be opportunities to extend this contract across other Reddam schools in Sydney.
As a high-performing educator the Visual Arts teacher will bring a strong pedagogical foundation to the classroom to promote academic excellence and intellectual curiosity. This teacher will deliver engaging curriculum-aligned lessons that inspire their students love of art and design. They will foster a positive learning environment that nurtures students creativity critical thinking and confidence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver high-quality Visual Arts teaching to secondary pupils modelling exemplary practice and fostering strong pupil engagement and achievement.
- Collaborate effectively with the Visual Arts team to ensure consistent high-standard learning experiences.
- Build positive relationships with pupils parents and colleagues in alignment with the schools educational philosophy.
- Develop and implement curriculum-aligned programmes that meet diverse learning needs and maximise pupil outcomes.
- Manage classroom resources materials and equipment to maintain a safe organised and productive learning environment.
- Assess pupil progress provide individualised support and deliver timely constructive feedback and detailed reports.
- Support pupils emotional and social wellbeing addressing concerns proactively and sensitively.
- Design administer and mark assessments including examinations and assignments to measure learning outcomes effectively.
- Contribute to co-curricular initiatives such as the Visual Arts retreat programme and annual exhibitions and participate actively in school events and meetings.
- Engage in ongoing professional development maintain accreditation requirements and contribute positively to the wider school community.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Teach high-quality Visual Arts to secondary pupils promoting strong engagement and achievement.
- Work collaboratively with the Visual Arts team to ensure consistent learning standards.
- Build positive relationships with pupils parents and colleagues in line with the schools ethos.
- Plan and deliver curriculum-aligned programmes that meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain a safe organised and well-resourced classroom environment.
- Assess progress regularly and provide timely constructive feedback and reports.
- Offer individualised support to help pupils overcome challenges and succeed.
- Prepare administer and mark examinations and coursework effectively.
- Contribute to exhibitions retreats and wider school activities and events.
- Participate in professional development and maintain required accreditation standards.
- A recognised teaching qualification such as a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or equivalent specialising in Visual Arts.
- Accreditation with NESA. and a valid Working with Children Check.
- Provide lunch & playground cover and assist with pick up and drop off duties.
- A willingness to attend school events outside regular hours as required (e.g. performances parent-teacher interviews etc.).
