Wind Turbine Technician Apprenticeship

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
We will provide a comprehensive and well supported learning programme includingclassroom-basedlearning and experience on site working with our completion oftheapprenticeship will result inanNVQLevel 3 Diplomain Advanced Manufacturingand Engineering (Mechatronics Maintenance Technician).
Our WindTurbine Technicians workas part of a smallteamdedicated to specificoffshorewind farms. Successful candidateswill learn to carry outall aspects of wind turbine maintenance including scheduled unscheduled proactive and troubleshooting maintenanceon wind turbines.
Your hard work will ensure our wind farmscontinue to deliver power to households and businesses. It isa rewarding job that allows you to workonhighly advanced machinery in a challenging trained you will beworking at sea in all weathers and at height using heavy complexmechanical andelectrical equipment. You willbe requiredtodemonstratea commitment to Health and Safety in all aspects of your work.
Initially the focus will be upon learning and developing engineering knowledge through education and of the tasks coveredas Techniciansin the longer terminclude:
Electro/Mechanical problem solving ofwind turbines working in small teams at heightin remote locations with user manuals asreference
Working with advanced mechanicalhydraulicand electricalequipment in a safe manner
Planningin advancethetools sparesandmaterialsrequired for each job to be completed
Fault findingand diagnosis of wind turbinemaincomponentconditiontoassistindeterminingif site repair is possible or whethertheunitrequiresexchange
Ongoing development to become a multi skilled technician that will cover all aspects of inspectionmaintenanceand repair of the windturbines
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
You will be keen to learn and undertake a practical role. Additionally due to the high complexity of the role it may mean standby or on call may berequired.
You will be part of a team that will perform services from the Service Operation Vessel (SOV) working 14 days on 14 days off rotation.
Knowledge and Skills:
5 GCSEs(or equivalent)at4/C or above including ScienceMathsand English
Applicants must be 18 years old or older
Willing to learn and develop
Interest in engineering
Able to work atheight
Able to work at sea
Willingto work shifts
Willing to work shifts staying for up to 2 weeks on a SOV
All apprentices will be expected to study full time for the first2 years atIPS International Rochesterbefore being deployedatanoperational wind farm in the UKfor the 3rdyearfor hands-on experienceof working on a wind farm.
Accommodation will be provided along with travel expensesfortwo journeys per monthbetweentheNorfolkareaand the term time address.

Accommodation will be provided with the costs of rent and utilities being paid by cost of your commute to collegeeach day will also be paid for by RWE.

For those candidates invited to the assessmentdayall reasonabletravel costs will be paid by RWE. This will be discussed with you upon invitation.
Holidays
25 days (to be taken outside of term time) plus public holidays.
