SUMMARY:
This individual is responsible for assuring the quality of all meat deli and seafood in the Fresh Distribution Centre (ZP03). This encompasses both Metros food safety and procurement specifications as well as all government regulations (temperatures approved sources cutting age weight packaging nomenclature sanitation and product safety) at the Fresh Distribution Centre.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct yield and specification tests.
- Responsible for claiming documentation and vendor communication for any products out of specifications.
- Maintain quality procedures for meat deli and seafood. These procedures must assure that:
- All suppliers shipping to Metro comply with product specifications and related food safety requirements.
- The incumbent must provide support to the receivers act as a resource and monitor their performance without directing them.
- Monitor short weight credits taken at the Fresh Distribution Centre to ensure accuracy and integrity. Develop and maintain a weekly credit summary indicating quality credits and rejections by supplier.
- Audit the Fresh Distribution Centre daily identifying quality and shrink issues (short codes inventory problems rotation or slotting issues temperature problems etc.) and provide the information in a document form that is easy to use by procurement and the warehouse. Ensure that corrective action is taken in a timely manner.
- Record all rejections by commodities identifying the supplier the item the number of cases involved the reason for the rejection and the disposition of the product.
- Facilitate solutions between Quality Assurance (QA) procurement and the Fresh Distribution Centre as to the disposition of products ensuring the resolution supports our policies.
- Continuously improve communication both written and verbal between QA procurement merchandising and the warehouse.
- Adhere to customer service standards and resolve customer needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College diploma or University studies (certificate) in a food/quality assurance related field.
- 5 to 7 years experience in a related field.
- Understanding meat cuts and proper specifications.
- Ability to use tools to conduct meat specifications. (meat saw/knives)
- Ability to conduct yield tests.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of regulations pertaining to general labeling of meat and seafood.
