Whats the Role
Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) is seeking a Credit Analytics & AI Lead to shape the future of intelligent credit decisioning and credit portfolio optimisation across our institutional loan portfolios.
Reporting to the Head of DDAI CIB this senior leadership role will lead the development and deployment of advanced credit analytics AI models and agentbased automation across the endtoend credit lifecycle. You will drive the digitisation of credit origination monitoring and portfolio optimisation capabilities to enable faster and smarter decisionmaking at scale.
This role is central to advancing WIBs focus on client-centric growth combining deep credit expertise with cutting-edge AI capability to deepen client relationships and deliver sustainable returns. Analytics produced by this function will directly influence structuring decisions investment outcomes and automation opportunities across institutional banking.
About the Team
Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) delivers sophisticated financial solutions to corporate institutional and government clients across Australia and globally. WIB supports trade capital markets lending and risk management for some of the regions largest and most complex organisations.
The Data Digital & AI (DDAI) function is the engine room for WIBs digital transformation. DDAI defines and executes the divisions data digital and AI strategypartnering with business leaders to unlock value through advanced analytics responsible AI and modern digital platforms. The team plays a critical role in enabling smarter decisions improving customer experiences and maintaining strong risk and regulatory standards.
Together WIB and DDAI are at the forefront of transforming institutional banking through datadriven insight automation and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead WIBs credit analytics and AI strategy delivering advanced models and insights across institutional loan portfolios to support structuring and investment decisions.
- Digitise the endtoend credit lifecycle embedding AI agents and automation across origination monitoring and portfolio optimisation processes.
- Establish and maintain robust data quality governance and compliance frameworks for credit data and AIdriven decisioning.
- Develop predictive and realtime risk capabilities to enable proactive portfolio management and smarter credit outcomes.
- Build and scale enterprisegrade data and AI infrastructure partnering closely with technology teams to deliver highperformance analytics and automation.
Lead mentor and grow a highperforming AI capability chapter fostering innovation and a strong riskaware culture.
Accountabilities
- Define and execute WIBs AI strategy aligned to institutional banking priorities and broader enterprise objectives.
- Ensure AI and analytics solutions meet regulatory risk and governance expectations.
- Provide clear reporting and insight to senior stakeholders on performance outcomes and strategic impact.
What do I need
- Deep expertise in credit risk analytics portfolio modelling and/or securitisation structures.
- Proven track record delivering AI and machine learning solutions in financial services including predictive modelling and agentbased automation.
- Strong understanding of institutional banking credit markets regulatory frameworks and structuring.
- Experience digitising complex endtoend processes and building scalable analytical platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to influence across business and technology driving innovation and cultural change.
