Job Summary

Role Overview

The Head of API Sales & Marketing (Global Markets) will spearhead global commercial strategy for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). This role is responsible for driving revenue growth expanding market share and strengthening customer relationships across regulated and emerging markets. The incumbent will lead a high-performing team align sales and marketing initiatives with corporate objectives and ensure compliance with international regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and execute global sales & marketing strategies for APIs.
    • Identify new market opportunities in regulated (US EU Japan) and semi-regulated/emerging markets.
    • Drive portfolio positioning and competitive differentiation.
  • Business Development
    • Build and nurture long-term relationships with global pharma clients distributors and partners.
    • Negotiate high-value contracts supply agreements and strategic alliances.
    • Lead participation in international trade fairs conferences and industry forums.
  • Market Intelligence & Branding
    • Monitor global API demand trends competitor activities and pricing benchmarks.
    • Strengthen employer and product branding through targeted campaigns.
    • Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to align pipeline with market needs.
  • Team Leadership & Performance
    • Lead mentor and develop a global sales & marketing team.
    • Establish KPIs incentive structures and performance review mechanisms.
    • Foster a culture of accountability innovation and customer-centricity.
  • Compliance & Governance
    • Ensure adherence to international regulatory requirements (USFDA EMA PMDA WHO etc.).
    • Maintain ethical business practices and transparent communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBA/PGDM in Marketing International Business or related field.
  • 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales & marketing with at least 7 years in APIs.
  • Proven track record of leading global commercial operations and achieving revenue targets.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory landscapes supply chain dynamics and pricing models.
  • Excellent negotiation communication and stakeholder management skills.
