Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months

Grade B

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Compliance Assistant to join our Resourcing Compliance Team at Birmingham City Council. This role is vital in ensuring our recruitment and employment compliance processes are delivered safely efficiently and in line with legislation and council policies.

What Youll Be Doing

Provide the first point of contact for recruitment compliance queries across the Council supporting areas such as DBS checks Right to Work visa sponsorship and referencing.

Deliver first-line advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on compliance issues relating to resourcing.

Support the maintenance of safe and compliant recruitment records including those linked to protected roles and regulated professions.

Assist with providing information for sponsorship queries and contribute to the preparation of DBS panel documentation and follow-up actions.

Contribute to the development of responses for FOI and SAR submissions relating to compliance work.

Ensure all activities adhere to confidentiality and GDPR requirements.

Work effectively in a fast-paced environment supporting the resourcing needs of the Council.

About You

Experience:

Experience in a customer service or Human Resources environment.

Ability to work in a busy high-demand environment.

Experience managing conflicting priorities and working to deadlines.

Confident use of IT systems including Microsoft Office and MS Teams.

Understanding of employment processes compliance and legislation.

Skills:

Ability to interrogate and interpret data and provide clear guidance.

Strong organisational skills and an ability to balance workload.

High levels of confidentiality accuracy and attention to detail.

Initiative and confidence to resolve queries appropriately escalating where required.
