Duties and responsibilities:
Teach coordinate and assess Accounting / Financial Accounting modules offered by the School of Accountancy at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Develop students digital acumen and other relevant graduate attributes.
Contribute to curriculum development and innovation to ensure that the module offerings accommodate the requirements of professional accountancy bodies (e.g. SAICAs AGA and CA of the Future Competency Framework) and the changing world of work.
Contribute to advancing the pedagogical practices followed in the School of Accountancy.
Conduct research and publish in quality journals.
Attend and present at conferences research colloquia workshops and seminars.
Develop and maintain relationships with the relevant research community the accountancy profession and professional bodies to establish collaborations and partnerships.
Perform administrative duties within the School of Accountancy.
Additional duties applicable to Senior Lecturer:
o Perform an academic leadership role in the School of Accountancy including overseeing quality assurance.
o Supervise postgraduate students with their Honours Masters or PhD theses/research projects.
o Mentor junior staff to achieve their academic/career goals.

Inherent requirements:
Lecturer

A Masters degree on NQF Level 9 in Accountancy or related discipline.
or
A Chartered Accountant (SA) (attach proof) holding an NQF Level 8 qualification in Accountancy or related discipline.
A good academic record (attach a copy).

Senior Lecturer
PhD on NQF Level 10 in Accountancy or related discipline.
or
A Chartered Accountant (SA)(attach proof) holding a Masters degree on NQF Level 9 in Accountancy or related discipline.
Proven experience in the successful facilitation of learning in the accountancy field.
Has made quality contributions to the advancement of knowledge within the higher education or accountancy-in-business field.
Has produced high-quality publications or reports in the field of accountancy.

Recommendations:
Lecturer:

Possesses practical experience in the field of Accountancy.
Recent relevant lecturing experience at an institution of higher learning.
Proven record of relevant scholarly publications.
Membership of professional accountancy bodies related to the areas of teaching/research (attach proof).
Senior Lecturer:
Possesses strong leadership and management skills.
Demonstrates excellent potential to obtain a PhD degree if not already obtained.
Is willing to contribute in a proactive and collegial manner to the strategic projects of the School of Accountancy.
Is willing to be a member of the management team of the School of Accountancy.
Membership of professional accountancy bodies related to the areas of teaching/research.
