ISP Soccer Coach Role Profile

Purpose of Role

To lead develop and inspire players by delivering effective coaching that enhances technical skills tactical understanding and team performance while fostering a positive safe and inclusive environment that promotes sportsmanship personal growth and a lifelong enjoyment of soccer.

Key Responsibilities

Plan deliver and review engaging training sessions that develop players technical tactical physical and mental skills.

Select organise and manage the team during matches making tactical adjustments as needed.

Foster a positive team culture built on respect discipline and sportsmanship.

Monitor player progress providing constructive feedback and setting development goals.

Ensure the safety and welfare of all players by following safeguarding first aid and injury prevention protocols.

Communicate effectively with players parents/guardians (where relevant) and club officials.

Manage equipment facilities and logistics for training and match days.

Stay up to date with coaching methods rules of the game and best practices in player development.

Skills:

Technical coaching ability Skilled in teaching ball control passing shooting defending and goalkeeping fundamentals.

actical knowledge Strong understanding of formations game strategies and situational decision-making.

Leadership Able to inspire motivate and guide individuals and teams toward shared goals.

Communication Clear and effective in giving instructions feedback and encouragement.

Organisation Capable of planning training sessions managing match logistics and maintaining schedules.

Adaptability Adjusts coaching style to suit different age groups skill levels and learning needs.

People management Builds positive relationships and resolves conflicts constructively.

Player development focus Encourages growth in skills confidence and sportsmanship.

Problem-solving Makes effective decisions under pressure during games and training.

Safeguarding awareness Prioritises player safety and well-being at all times.

Qualifications:

Continued Professional Development (CPD) in coaching methods and player development.

Experience:

Previous experience coaching youth or school-aged players in a structured environment.

Proven ability to design and deliver age-appropriate training sessions that develop skills and promote enjoyment of the game.

Experience fostering teamwork sportsmanship and positive behaviour among students.

Background in working within a school sports programme including inter-school competitions and tournaments.

Ability to manage mixed-ability groups and adapt coaching to different learning needs.

Experience collaborating with teachers parents and school staff to support student participation and well-being.
