Read more: Senior Manager AI Engineering lead the design development and deployment of AI/ML-powered platforms within a six-person innovation team operating with a startup mentality inside Global Biometrics & Data Sciences. The role serves as technical architect for the teams AI stack including LLM-assisted clinical programming tools intelligent data exploration platforms and agentic workflow systems driving the transformation from manual SAS-centric processes toward modern AI-augmented open-source workflows. Works cross-functionally with Statistical Programming Data Management Clinical Regulatory and Medical Writing to deliver solutions for clinical studies.

Key Responsibilities:

AI/ML Platform Architecture & Development

  • Architect and deploy production-grade AI/ML platforms: clinical intelligence hubs LLM-assisted code generation tools and domain-specific language models from concept through production.

  • Design agentic AI systems with tool-use capabilities including MCP server architectures knowledge graphs and RAG pipelines for clinical data contexts.

  • Lead fine-tuning of domain-specific LLMs for clinical programming including training data curation evaluation frameworks and deployment.

  • Build scalable API services (FastAPI/Flask) and robust data pipelines supporting SDTM and ADaM data structures.

Technical Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Define and drive the AI/ML technical roadmap aligning with the broader Programming 2.0 vision for clinical data analysis.

  • Establish engineering best practices: contract-first development testing strategies CI/CD pipelines and code review standards.

  • Mentor junior developers through code reviews pair programming and architectural design sessions.

  • Partner with Statistical Programming teams to integrate AI-assisted workflows for ADaM generation TFL production and submission readiness.

  • Lead change management for AI tool adoption: stakeholder engagement training and communication strategies.

Industry Engagement & Open Source

  • Represent the organization at industry conferences through presentations and publications.

  • Lead open-source contributions and knowledge sharing of AI/ML tools and methodologies with the broader pharmaceutical community.

  • Maintain deep awareness of the evolving AI/ML landscape evaluating new models and frameworks for clinical application.

Technical Skills & Competencies Required:

  • Expert Python with deep AI/ML experience: LLM frameworks (Claude SDK/LangGraph) model fine-tuning (LoRA/QLoRA/PEFT) inference optimization.

  • Production experience with AI infrastructure: vector databases embeddings RAG prompt engineering and LLM evaluation.

  • API development (FastAPI/Flask) GitHub-native CI/CD workflows Unix/Linux and containerization (Docker).

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals: design patterns testing (unit/integration/e2e) multi-component system architecture.

  • Front-end capability (React/Vue/modern JS) for building user-facing interfaces to AI systems.

Strongly Preferred

  • Clinical trial data experience CDISC standards (SDTM/ADaM) or pharmaceutical/healthcare industry background.

  • Knowledge graph technologies (Neo4j/Graphiti) and experience training or fine-tuning domain-specific language models.

  • Track record of open-source contributions or published technical work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Data Science Statistics Mathematics or related field (Masters preferred).

  • Minimum 7 years in software/AI/ML engineering with 3 years focused on AI/ML system design and deployment.

  • Pharma experience strongly preferred but not required for exceptional AI engineering candidates.

  • Non-traditional backgrounds with demonstrated deep technical expertise are welcomed.

Compensation Overview:

Warsaw - PL: zł264960 - zł321072

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay takes into account characteristics of the job such as required skills where the job is performed the employees work schedule job-related knowledge and experience. The final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience and in accordance with pay equity principles and applicable employment laws.
