Description of Work
Salary Range: $41206 - $72113Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor IV the Maintenance/Construction Technician III position requires specialization in two or more technical trades in connection with maintenance of facilities related equipment and machinery. Position functions at the journey level in multiple skilled trades such as electrical plumbing masonry heating and air or similar specializations. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Completing complex work assignments which require planning and/or coordinating multiple trade disciplines.
- Working assigned tasks independently and referring very technical or unusual working problems to a supervisor for consideration.
- Training and/or supervising offender workers engaged in semiskilled unskilled or skilled maintenance assignments.
- Performing special repairs and assignments that are received by work orders form authorized personnel and ensuring compliance with the work orders.
- Maintaining and ensuring equipment is in proper working condition.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
- Working knowledge of the methods practices tools and/or materials used in the general maintenance and/or repair of buildings equipment and/or machinery
Necessary Special Qualification:
MAY require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart F.

There was an update to the salary range effective February 01 2026. The new salary range is $41206 - $72113.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC09. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase May result.

Albemarle Correctional Institution is located in Badin North Carolina and houses up to 856 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
Minimum Education and Experience
