Where Youll Be Working

The Intermediate Stay Mental Health Unit (ISMHU) is a 20-bed non-acute mental health rehabilitation unit located on the grounds of James Fletcher Hospital.

ISMHU supports people living with enduring mental health conditions and psychosocial disability. Patients typically stay for 612 weeks to develop practical skills confidence self-awareness healthy routines and meaningful relationships that enhance community participation and quality of life.

The unit is staffed by a collaborative multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality recovery-oriented person-centred and values-based rehabilitation care. The position sits within the Occupational Therapy Department and the broader multidisciplinary team with strong professional and peer support structures in place.

About the Role

  • This is a 12-month contract position working Monday to Friday 8:00am4:30pm.

  • The role offers an opportunity to deliver recovery-oriented practice within a structured rehabilitation model. As part of the team you will:

  • Contribute to multidisciplinary care coordination

  • Deliver individual and group-based interventions focused on mental health recovery and psychosocial rehabilitation

  • Conduct and document functional and psychosocial assessments

  • Support consumers to develop independence daily living skills and community participation

  • Promote a positive respectful and person-centred workplace culture
