Position: Research Assistant Location: 1 Jim Flaherty St. Whitby ONAssignment: Full-time Hourly Contract (37.5 hours/week for 8 weeks) Pay Rate: $18.60 per hour Start/End Dates: June 22 2026 August 14 2026Openings: Number of openings is dependent on funding received from Canada Summer Jobs. You are a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*;You have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and legally entitled to work in Canada.*International students are not eligible. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market the temporary nature of an international students time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour Youll Do:Assist with research-related activities that may include conducting reviews of literature data collection data analysis preparing ethics applications and creating knowledge translation materials. Research topics may include community inclusion exercise and quality of life for people with disabilities & older adults family & youth recreation community engagement and need assessment for people with disabilitiesCultivate a member-centered environment through exceptional customer serviceEstablish rapport and maintain effective relationships with members staff volunteers and community partnersFoster a work environment that values and encourages teamwork and empowermentWhat Youll Bring: Education and Experience. University or college program (undergraduate/graduate) in physical education / recreation / kinesiology / disability studies / education / psychology / health sciences or other related fields Skills and Knowledge.
