Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on approach mindset and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design creation and optimization of systems consists of identification and quantification of system requirements creation of alternate system design concepts performance of design trade studies selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. Manages product and systems requirements specifications and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system including system level testing. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
    Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.


Internship Duration:

  • Preferred start date is May 2026 with an ideal duration of 12 months though 6-month and 4-month commitments will also be considered.

Required Qualifications

  • In the final year of masters degree in engineering/physics or Ph.D degree with specialized in MRI Physics or MRI research
  • Demonstrated some research or product development experience in healthcare (Related to MRI is most preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience driving CTQ flow-down to subsystems
  • Demonstrated ability to work with technical leadership team to implement product platform/subsystem multi-generation technology plan for a specific release of a global program/product
  • Demonstrated broad exposure to HW/SW/Systems design and technical depth in one or more engineering disciplines (Electrical Mechanical Software etc)
