Job Summary

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

Face to Face Health and Counseling is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing economic and health equityforyouth ages 1124. We do this work through a comprehensive approach that includeshousing mental health medical youth justice education & employment and community services.We take a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to our work and center the needs of young peopleimpactedby racism and other forms of oppression and marginalization.Founded in 1972 Face to Face serves more than 3000 youth annually.

JOB SUMMARY:

Youth JusticeIntakeSpecialist(YJIS)is responsible forconducting intakes to enrollyouth and emerging adults (EAs) into the youth justice programfor supportive cases management servicesatFace to Faces downtown locationSafeZoneourday shelter for youthandemerging adults that are at-risk of or currentlyexperiencing homelessness. This involves meetingwith youthandemerging adultswho either have or are at riskof criminal legal system involvement. YJIS willcollectbackgroundinformationregardingcriminal legal system risk and/or involvement assess their immediate needs and connectthemto a dedicatedyouthjusticecasemanagerandcollaborate with youthjusticeteam totrackprogressof referrals fromRamsey Countycommunity partners.

This position is part-timeat20hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conductyouth justice program enrollmentintakes withyouth enteringtheir information into our youth secured database (Apricot) quickly andaccurately;
  • Collaborate with youth justice team and community referring agencies tomonitorcase plan progress;
  • Connect new youth to services and supports available at Face to Face particularly related to immediate needs;
  • Make internal referrals to onsiteCoordinated Entry assessments with youth experiencing homelessnesson an appointment and drop-in basis;
  • Assistwith other day-to-day tasks atSafeZoneas needed;
  • Develop andmaintainrelationships with youth serving programsinternally andexternally.
  • Provide excellent customer service whileconductingintakesutilizinga harm reduction and trauma-informedperspective.
  • Provides all services guided by theevidence-based principles for helping youth overcomehomelessness;
  • Engage withyouth in a meaningful and respectfulmanner.
  • Respond to crises and de-escalate situations in a calm and professional manner;
  • Collaborate with other staff andmaintainteamwork style;and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School degree or equivalent required;
  • B.A. in social services or equivalent education preferred; extensive experience in lieu of degree will be considered;
  • Minimum of 2yearsexperience working with homeless justice-involvedorotherwise under resourcedyouth;
  • Ability to work independently exercising good judgmentandinvolving others when necessary;
  • Experience with a positive youth development and harm reduction approach;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • High reliability and integrity;
  • Positive attitude and willingness to do what it takes to meet youth needs;
  • Good crisis management skills and the ability to navigate stressful situations well;
  • Knowledge of homelessness anditsimpactonyouth;
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic economicracialand cultural backgrounds;
  • Good timemanagement skills and ability to prioritize; and
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to do data entry quickly and accurately.

Essential Onsite This role requires the employee to be onsiteduring the second half of the workday.

PAY &BENEFITS:

Pay for this position isbetween $24.00-$26.00perhour based on qualifications.Face to Facealsooffers benefits which includelong-term disabilitylife insurance 403b account(3%employermatch)as well as generous PTO and11paidholidays.
