Network Planner [Transmission Network]

Our client a fast growing wholesale fibre company based in Fourways JHBrequires a Network Planner Transmission Networks.

The role is responsible for the end-to-end planning design and technical governance of the transmission network.

This includes developing technology roadmaps and producing high-quality High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) ensuring solutions meet functional performance budget and timeline requirements and supporting successful implementation and commissioning.

The role works closely with Engineering Network Architecture Fibre Planning Program Management Operations and Commercial teams to ensure scalable resilient and cost-effective network solutions.

1. Network Planning and Design

• Develop comprehensive network technical plans alignedtobusinessobjectives capacity demand and long-term technology strategy
• Produce high-quality HLDs and LLDs for transmission network solutions across DWDM ROADM OTN SDH Ethernet and DCN domains
• Translate architectural requirements into implementable engineering designs and configuration-ready documentation

3. Inventory Data and Systems Management

• Own andmaintainaccuracy of network inventory including planning data audits and record management

4. Procurement and Commercial Support

• Support network procurement processes including technical evaluation of vendors and solutions

5. Governance Quality and Risk

• Adhere to promote and contribute to the development of company policies standards and procedures

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering Telecommunications Computer Science or related technical field (Mastersdegree preferred or equivalent experience)

• Minimum of 5 years experience in the telecommunications industry withstrongfocus on network engineering planning or design
• Proven experience designing and delivering transmission networks using technologies such as DWDM/ROADM (10G800G) OTN SDH Ethernet/IP Transport and DCN

• Experience producing structured HLDs and LLDs including diagrams logical/physical topologies protection schemes routing models andimplementationdocumentation
• Experience working with multi-vendor environments including Tejas Networks Huawei Ciena Infinera ADVA and Nokia

• Strong understanding of optical networkingfibretypes OTDR testing link budget calculations networksynchronisation performance monitoring and ITU-T standards
• Demonstratedability to developaccuratenetwork plans and present to both technical and executive audiences

• Proficient in Microsoft Project and/orPlanner formanaging timelines dependencies and budgets
• Strong documentation skills andabilityto manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
