Job Summary

Objectives of the Role

Ensure the reliability performance and security of the organisations network infrastructure.
Monitor and optimise network performance to maintain high availability of critical systems and services.
Design implement and maintain scalable network solutions that support organisational growth and operational requirements.
Support cybersecurity and infrastructure teams in maintaining a secure and resilient network environment.
Contribute to continuous improvement of network operations monitoring and incident response processes.

Network Operations & Monitoring

Monitor the organisations network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance availability and reliability.
Identify analyse and resolve network performance issues outages and connectivity problems.
Maintain network monitoring systems and respond to alerts relating to performance degradation or service interruptions.
Proactively identify potential risks or inefficiencies within the network environment.

Network Design & Implementation

Design implement and maintain network infrastructure including routers switches firewalls and wireless systems.
Support the deployment of new network solutions and infrastructure upgrades.
Implement network segmentation routing configurations and redundancy mechanisms.
Ensure network designs follow organisational standards and industry best practices.

Performance & Capacity Management

Analyse network utilisation and capacity to ensure infrastructure supports current and future operational requirements.
Implement optimisation strategies to improve network performance and efficiency.
Review trends in network usage to identify areas for improvement or scaling.

Security & Compliance Support

Implement and maintain network security controls including firewall rules VPN configurations and segmentation.
Support cybersecurity initiatives by ensuring secure network configurations and architecture.
Assist with vulnerability remediation related to network infrastructure.
Support compliance with regulatory contractual and information security requirements.

Incident & Problem Management

Investigate and resolve network incidents in line with incident management procedures.
Escalate complex network issues where required and coordinate resolution with internal teams and external vendors.
Conduct root cause analysis following significant network incidents.
Document incidents remediation actions and preventative measures.

Experience required:

35 years of experience in network engineering network operations or infrastructure engineering roles.
Hands-on experience with enterprise networking environments including routers switches firewalls VPN technologies and wireless infrastructure.
Experience supporting high availability and resilient network architectures.
Experience with network monitoring troubleshooting and performance optimisation tools.
Exposure to cloud networking (Azure / AWS / hybrid environments) isadvantageous.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
CompTIA Network
Juniper Networks Certification (JNCIA / JNCIS)
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) advantageous
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) advantageous
ITIL Foundation advantageous
