He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi About the role

As the Upper South Island Asset Engineer youll lead a team of Field Asset Engineers and inspectors to support the reliability and safety of KiwiRails network by managing infrastructure assets across their lifecycle. From maintenance planning to performance monitoring and technical advice youll ensure our assets are fit for purpose and compliant with national standards. Your work will help minimise risk and maximise service delivery making rail safer and more resilient for everyone.

Working closely with regional teams and national specialists youll be part of a collaborative environment where data insights and proactive engineering make a real difference.

Were looking for someone who is proactive analytical and passionate about engineering and asset performance. You will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering (preferably civil structural or related discipline)
  • Experience in asset management infrastructure or project engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Understanding of health safety and environmental requirements
  • Familiarity with asset data systems (e.g. SAP Maximo) is desirable
