  • Wadawurrung/Geelong based role (hybrid work from home 3 days a week in office)

About the opportunity

The Claims Specialist will work within the Delivery Operations division of WorkSafes Return to Work Victoria business unit. The Delivery Operations division has a focus on achieving improved performance outcomes for injured workers on the Scheme aiming to improve the rate of early sustainable and safe return to work as well as quality of service to both injured workers and employers.

The roles main purpose is to provide technical expertise to Agents focussing on entitlements return to work and quality decision making. This role will be primarily responsible for overseeing and improving the performance at the second entitlement review period (130 week). This role will be expected to be flexible in supporting these and other projects within the branch and division dependent on business priorities.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provides leadership in the technical application of the Act and its interpretation to Agents
  • Assist with the development of agent training and provide technical expertise to the training branch in delivering the training
  • Make recommendations for improvement to processes or policy identified through data and maintain data management systems.
  • Recommends strategic directions for area of responsibility and consider wider agency implications when making decisions.
  • Contribute to the broader activities such as cross-team and cross-divisional activities and back up of other branch members as required

About you

You enjoy working to make a difference as a Claims professional with demonstrated experience in second entitlement. Your communication and organisational skills are exceptional and you have the ability to work to tight deadlines in both an autonomous and team capacity. You enjoy stakeholder engagement and have the ability to liaise with all levels of stakeholders both internally and externally. Further you will also possess:

  • Technical understanding of the processes surrounding legislative statutory entitlements
  • Expertise in the knowledge of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013
  • Expertise in reviewing and analysing of claim forms medical occupational rehabilitation and investigation reports
  • Expertise in the management of stakeholder issues and the ability to provide positive solutions to issues as these arise and the ability to address systemic issues.
  • Expertise in the management of complex claims and advanced knowledge of the WorkSafe computer systems (ACCtion/Novus).

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or industry experience
