    Position Description

    Provides a full range of school psychological services to students. Develops behavior support plans and functional behavior assessments. Consults with school personnel parents and others concerned with the progress of students. Provides case management behavioral support and program management to regular and special education students. Provides both individual and group counseling. Functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to determine the students eligibility for special services appropriate programming and on-going progress. School Psychologist-Bilingual positions provide such services as indicated above in English as well as in the specified language when such language use is appropriate.

    Qualifications

    Education

    An earned masters degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard from an accredited college of university.

    Credentials

    One of the following California credentials or combination of credentials authorizing K-12 service:

    1. General Pupil Personnel Services Credential authorizing service as a school psychologist;
    2. Service Credential with a specialization in pupil personnel services designating service as a school psychologist
    3. School Psychologist Credential


    Bilingual Competency and/or Certification
    Bilingual School Psychologists must hold state bilingual certification.

    Experience
    Desirable

    1. Successful experience as a school psychologist school counselor or teacher in a public-school setting.
    2. Successful full-time public-school service in a certificated position(s) in programs and/or services involving students with disabilities.


    Compensation:

    2025 - 2026 school year $152462 - $187510 (190 work days) Prorated for this school year

    Annual Degree Stipends offered for each of the following (limit two; prorated by FTE)

    • Doctorate: $2700
    • Masters: $2500


    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Conducts psychological assessments and develops case studies of individual students to determine educational needs learning characteristics and social behavior relevant to educational placement and instructional planning; files such reports in compliance with established policies and procedures.
    • Interprets the findings of individual studies to administrators teachers parents students and others directly concerned with the welfare of students.
    • Evaluates the results of tests in relation to the cultural environmental and language backgrounds of students.
    • Participates in the process required by federal state and local regulation for the identification placement and re-evaluation of students with special needs; participates in and may act as local education agency (LEA) representative for the Individualized Educational Program team.
    • Participates in the Student Study Team.
    • Assists in developing a written individual educational plan for students who are eligible for special education placement and/or service.
    • Assists in developing behavioral objectives for individual students and special class groups; suggests implementation strategies as appropriate; confers with teachers and partners regarding strategies for the solution or amelioration of individual learning or adjustment problems of students.
    • Supervises the Functional Behavioral Assessment process including data collection data analysis behavioral hypothesis development and creation of an individualized behavior plan.
    • Counsels students individually and/or in groups to assist them in educational achievement and personal or social adjustment.
    • Serves as liaison to community agencies and private professional persons on matters related to student placement and adjustment.
    • Provides psychological counseling to students staff and parents in crisis situations and serves as a member of the school crisis team.
    • When assigned to a School Psychologist-Bilingual position communicates with students and parents in a specified language when such language use is appropriate.

    Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time; ability to sit bend kneel perform grasping and handling motions and torso rotations on a continuous basis lift carry or move up to 50 lbs. ability to reach in all directions; adequate sight or corrected vision to read printed directions or instructions; hear and speak to communicate with co-workers students and the public; dexterity of the hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.

    Hazards:

    • Exposure to bodily fluids blood borne pathogens and infectious diseases
    • Contact with dissatisfied or aggressive individuals (hitting biting scratching spitting throwing objects)
