As a senior member of the Indigenous Wealth team the Senior Relationship Manager Indigenous Wealth primary responsibility will be to contribute to the building of deep relationships with First Nation Metis and Inuit clients and prospects. The individual will be responsible for building out strategic relationships with organizations who have strong advisory roles with Indigenous nations including legal advisory and accounting practices. The Senior Relationship Manager Indigenous Wealth will also contribute to a range of proactive sales activities targeted to prospective Indigenous clients directly and through internal bank channels resulting in client acquisition and growth in AUM for the addition the Senior Relationship Manager Indigenous Wealth will assist in serving existing clients support managements requirements for the generation of market and competitor intelligence product analysis business case creation and sales reporting and pipeline development. The selected candidate will influence business strategy and bring potential for expansion of responsibilities.

The chosen candidate will contribute to the overall success of the Indigenous Wealth team by ensuring that specific individual goals plans initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the teams strategies and objectives. He or she will also ensure all activities conducted are compliant with current governing regulations internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you In this role you will:

  • Responsible for developing and expanding relationships with Indigenous communities primarily in Western Canada with support for the Indigenous team.
  • Lead the preparation and execution of client meetings by attending Trustee Chief & Council and Annual General meetings on Reserve. Prepare and complete monthly quarterly annual and ad-hoc reporting for the clients investment strategies
  • Build and strengthen strategic relationships with external Indigenous COIs contacts that include legal advisory and accounting practices by developing and executing proactive creative and ongoing contact.
  • Develop and expand internal Scotiabank awareness of Indigenous Wealth teams capabilities and expertise.
  • Develop provide and present educational material geared directly to Indigenous Nations and their community groups.
  • Work with Indigenous team to develop thought leadership pieces for presentation at National conferences and for internal capacity building within Scotia.
  • Promote investment strategies through frequent client interactions and discussions covering investment philosophy process and performance
  • Act as a liaison to the research investment management & product management groups to ensure active enthusiastic support of the sales and marketing process to Indigenous clients
  • Be a key contributor to a thorough and disciplined business development and sales process.
  • Gather broad market intelligence build competitive analysis and incorporate into new and existing product development plans.
  • Champion a high performance environment and help implement a dynamic enthusiastic positive and inclusive organizational culture that attracts retains develops and motivates the team.

Education Professional Experience Certifications and Skills required:

  • Eight to ten years of relevant experience which could include in consultant relations in investment consulting portfolio management/research institutional relationship management or financial markets
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial markets investments and the needs of Indigenous Nations and their consultants.
  • Proactive team player with ability to prioritize to thrive in a fast-paced environment to show a high-level of professionalism and to pay great attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal leadership listening communication (both verbal and written) problem solving and resource management skills.
  • A self-starter who is equally at home working within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Moderate travel domestically.
