Grants Coordinator Summary:

United Way of the Midlands isseekinga motivated anddetail-orientedGrantsCoordinator(Prospect Development) to support our continued organizational growth andevolution. This role offers a unique opportunity for an early-career professionalwith strong research and writing skills to expand their knowledge of the grants and nonprofit communicationskillspersistenceand an eagernessto grow in a purpose-driven environment.

In this role you will support the identification and development of new grant opportunities working closely with an experienced GrantsManagerand collaborating with teams across Donor Engagement FinanceAnalytics and Programming. You will contribute to proposal development research and tracking processes that help ensure alignment with organizational strategy and funder priorities.

This position is ideal for someone curious organized and eager to grow professionally while contributing to United Ways four impact areas:Healthy Community Financial Security Youth Opportunity and CommunityResilience.

Responsibilities:
  • Proactivelyidentifyand research new grant opportunities that align with UWMs mission and impact areas.
  • Supportsthe development of at least three new grant proposals per month byassistingwithdrafting and organizing narratives budgets and supporting materials.
  • Contributestodraftingclear compelling content for proposals letters of inquiry reports and other funder briefings for meetings with program officers.
  • Collaborateswith internal teamsto gather data clarify program goals andhelpensure proposal alignment.
  • Helpsmaintainthe grant prospecting pipelineand trackingsystems to ensure accuracy andtimelyfollow-ups.
  • Coordinatesinternal review processes for new proposals incorporatingfeedbackand aligning with UWM strategy.
  • Assistswith the preparation of grant reports and compliance materials.
  • Buildsfamiliarityonphilanthropic trends and funder priorities related to UWMs four impact areas.
  • Supportscontinuous improvement byparticipatingin debriefs and applying lessons learned to future submissions.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Strongwriting editing and research skills
  • Abilityto synthesize information into clear mission-aligned content
  • Curiosityand initiative in learning about funding opportunities
  • Strongorganization and attention to detail with ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Effectivecommunication and collaboration skills
  • Familiaritywith nonprofit or grant environments preferred but notrequired
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel); Salesforce or grants systems familiarity a plus
  • Opennessto feedback and commitment to professional growth

Collaborative Responsibilities:
  • This role works in partnership with UWMs Grants Manager to support the organizations grant portfolio. The position collaborates with the Donor Engagement team to respond to emerging funding opportunities and works with a Grants Accountant on financial documentation related to proposals and reporting.
  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience injournalismcommunications public administration or related field.
  • Experience intechnical writinggrant writing or nonprofit fundraisingpreferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
